After an extended absense, I have returned from inactivity. This inactivity was due to a harddrive crash on this laptop which took longer than expected to fix due to my pursual to collect still savable data, and the opportunity to take a vacation of sorts in order to set my other priorities and dealings in order and just for general relaxation away from the computer.

I still have several things that I need to do to get back up to speed, so my activity here and elsewhere may be minimal until this is accomplished. Business before pleasure.

I've been quite busy in my personal life, computer issues aside, and have been met with interesting life decisions and offers, which made the computer breakdown a matter of opportunity rather than one of compromise or setback.

I'd like to take this time to thank all of those who have been concerned about me during this absense. Thank you for your instant messeges, personal messeges, and e-mails. I appriciate your concern and I'll try to respond to your messeges and posts as soon as I can (as there are many).

Its good to be back.

Kindest personal regards,

Damien

I was going to write a few times to inquire as to where you had gone. Figured such an extended absense meant total offlineage though. ^^
Good to see you are well. ^^

Thank you. I'm glad that it happened, in retrospect. Lots of things have been happening. For example, the pastor of my church came up to me after mass last week and asked me if I wanted to become a eucaristic minister. I told him I'd have to think about it. It was pretty unexpected, and it sure would be an honor, albeit a huge responsibility.

The one thing I wish I would have done more of but didn't was draw more pictures using my pencils and markers. I had some time to do it, but it didn't pan out that way. The plus side to this though is that I have alot of pent up drawing energy that needs to be released. So I'm looking forward to drawing alot.

Welcome back Vlad! What a relief to learn that nothing more serious than computer troubles kept you away, though that's serious enough. So good to have you back with us! I look forward to the flood of swell new Vlad illustrations your pent-up creative energy will unleash!

Thank you, my friend. 🙂

Fortunately, most of what I would have backed up I already have. The things that I didn't, that is to say the most recent material that couldn't be saved before the harddrive gave out, is easily attainable....or at least it should be.

There are a few pictures I'm looking for that I had before, and I can't seem to find them. And I was going to use one of them as a reference for a picture...ah well.

i thought it was a little quiet, and i couldn't put my finger on it...

*snort*

Yeah. I had the same feeling. I knew something was weird.

This coming from a funny man and a post **********, respectively? 🙄

Huh what? 😛

The post ********** is mainly for show, because I've been called that. I really don't post THAT much (at least I don't think I do). As far as "funny man", I couldn't begin to know where that came from. I'm not the least bit funny.

I was being a bit sarcastic just for fun.

I did notice that the TT has been a bit quiet, though.

Norm is the "funny man", or so he calls himself in his title. I wasn't refering to you. I was talking to both of you, though.

As far as TT being quiet, its always been that way. It has it's activity in spurts.

Man....I have alot of messeges and things I have to read and respond to all over the internet....I'm not looking forward to this at all! No can do...no wanna do...! LOL! 😛

This is the downside to being away for extended periods of time...you have to catch up with everything! To quote Charlie Brown himself- "ARGH!"

I don't know what your backup habits are, Vlad, but you might find this link to be handy. It's a bit dated, but the overall advice is very sound.

I am really glad to see you back, Vlad. I was actually getting pretty worried.

I almost sent you a message but as my fingers hovered over the keyboard, the only thing I could think to ask you was "um...You're not, like, dead or anything, are you?"

However, cooler heads prevailed and I chalked it up to a systems crash of some sort. So, in deciding that, I also assumed that it would be a waste of time to message you as your re-appearance here would more than likely happen before you read said message anyhow.

DAMN GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heh, thats a cute presentation of advice. Yeah, I already do that. See, the data I had lost was very recent data and this problem struck before I had a chance to back it up. Fortunately of course the most important stuff has been backed up for some time. Its really just a matter of finding the minor things an redownloading them. I didn't lose anything vital, thank Heavens. And this laptop is covered under my extended warranty, so I didn't have to pay for it. 🙂

It would have been ok if you sent one anyways. Lots of other people did. Not necessarily on this site, but everywhere on the internet I am. Like I said earlier, I've got to get back up to speed. Lots of things have apparently happened. Fortunately it hasn't taken as long as I would have expected. Sites like this one are easy to get back into the flow of.

When I logged on to deviantart.com yesterday though, I had over 800 deviations and over 250 journals people had uploaded!

The Count is back! Glad to see you around again, although I've just returned myself, albeit with no suitable excuse like yourself. *Considers what sort of celebratory thing to throw for the return of a vampire and figures releasing bats is the best bet. Thousand-bat release action*

See, Vlad! You're only back a couple of days and you're already batting a thousand. (Nyuk-nyuk)

@ general zod- Thank you. 🙂

@ Kalamos- Every method of data retrieval was tried, and in the end, the harddrive had physical damage which kept any interface from tapping into the computer (fortunately I had saved all the important stuff before this happened). I did exactly what you're suggesting though, and it didn't work. This is why I was gone longer than expected. In the end it wasn't completely necessary that I saved everything, since now it gives me a fresh, empty computer and I can reclaim what I want later rather than rat-packing data and files like alot of people do.

Thanks though. 🙂 Its definitely a sound investment for the future.

@ ignatz- Yes. Yes, indeed. 😀
