This is the first time I ever let some of my personal opinion on the subject out, though I have oft threatened Big Jim with a two page thread on the subject....(he is one of us too..lol)

If there is no afterlife, then your existence ends with death. Period. No eternity, no black hole, no nothing. Only the atoms of your body remain in the cycle of matter and energy.

If there is no afterlife, then nothing is lost.....but if there is (and yes there is one), then a lot of people are going to wind up on the rotten end of it, if they refuse to believe

Only if you believe in a judging God. Someone can be an atheist all their life but live a wonderful and productive existence and they'll get better than someone who believed but was a complete bastard.

I think it's important to remember that death isn't a cure-all for ignorance. We won't arrive there, slap our forehead in realisation and suddenly understand the workings of the universe.

I was convinced that, when I got to Heaven (In which I firmly believe), that I would become one with God, and then say "Of course! It's so simple!" I also believe there are some things we aren't meant to understand. If we understood everything, then there would be no reason for faith.

For those who do not believe in a Heaven or Hell, that is your choice, as to believe is mine, and I'm not saying it's wrong, but I think if there is no Heaven nor Hell, then, when I die, no harm, no foul. However, if there is, I'd rather be prepared, Better to have a parachute, and not need it, than to need a parachute, and not have it, Nes pas?
