Do you still watch VHS movies?

I have a old VCR in my bedroom that I still play old movies on, mainly to fall asleep.

I just dug out Citizen Kane from my archives, and plan on watching it tonight.

Do you still have VHS tapes still sitting around, though the DVD and Blu-Ray have pretty much replaced it?

As a nerd, the THX Star Wars is still the best release of the originals. So my VHS is basically there just for that these days.

There is so much stuff not available on DVD, older, rare or foreign material (plus what I've recorded at home) that I have tons of VHS I still look at - although I might start transferring them to DVD just so the tapes don't wear out.

I still have VHS tapes, but they're mostly exercise videos (that I haven't used in a long time). Can those be transferred to DVD? Would it cost more to transfer them than it would to just buy their DVD versions (those that still exist anyway)?

I'm so technologically challenged............:scared::wow::wharblgarbl:

We have 5 VCRs...two in combination with DVD recorders. Most of our better than 600 movie collection is on tape, though we are grabbing copies of stuff on DVD where we can find it. One of these days, I might actually get around to transferring stuff to disk. But, by then, there'll probably be yet another technology out there. Heck, I still have about a dozen of the old style video disk...the ones you have to flip halfway through to play the rest. And, yes. I do have the player for that as well.

Kis.....If you have a dvd recorder, you can easily play on the vcr and record on the dvd. It's pretty simple. As to cost comparison, if the tapes are in good shape, it's probably cheaper to copy onto disk. You can grab a DVD recorder and a couple dozen disks for what you'd likely pay to replace half a dozen vids.

I still have a few tapes and a VCR but I never use them. I don't think my VCR has even been plugged in for the past year and a half and the tapes are collecting dust behind my tv.

Yeah, I have some old ones ofc 😛 Mostly child movies though. xD
And some SATC episodes on VHS that I bought very cheap at a market recently. 🙂 Unfortunately our VHS isn't working very well at the moment, for some strange reason :S, so I can't watch it. 🙁

They still sell VCR/DVD combos. So they won't do away with the players anytime soon.

I copy them using my capture device and divide them into chapters. 😉

I went as far as buying a brand new VCR so i can still watch my old tapes 🙂

I didnt bring it to germany tough.....so for 2 years my old tapes are left back home

I'd love to do that. But, as with copying them in general, it requires way too much time. Right now, my time is consumed by site work and projects I'm trying to accomplish around the house. One day...?

I have a few that I've had forever and can't seem to give up. Sentimental reasons I guess. 😛

Yes, I still have some VHS tapes around, including the 1988 World Series games. I really ought to convert them before the last VCR breaks down.

I have some old VHS movies I watch now and then. But if I find the same movie on DVD for a decent price I snatch that up.
