I've had about 50-50 luck with giving a girl relaxed with a massage first.

I have had some luck with washing them first with warm soapy water and scubbing them gently with a wash cloth and soft brush. then dry them with a soft towel, and then apply generous amonts of lotion. wait for them to dry and them see if that works.
