The first "clip" I ever watched was an arduously-obtained homegrown amateur Super 8 film from a couple,... I think from Arkansas. That was in 1983,.... thirty years ago,... and that's how things were at the time. Under the circumstances, I have to say that it still ranks as the most exciting 10 minutes of my clip-viewing career. You should be able to guess why.
It wasn't long before Cal-Star, Solefully Yours (I once interviewed Pam for an article) and a few others popped up. I positioned myself to work with a couple of them. It was all extremely exciting.
But having also had a pretty good run in pursuing my favorite pastime, and with a reasonable host of companions - including my wife - clips just don't do that much for me anymore. Oh, I still watch them,... and YouTube is fine with me, since I know it isn't reality, anyway. Plato suggested that "art" should capture the quality of real life, and not many clips do that, eh? I have vivid recollections of real life. Maturity and insight may be the cap on early fetish exuberance, and it's hard to fool yourself when you know better.
I would dearly love to see a well-produced 30 min. clip,... I think it would be a "dramatic-comedy," ... thoughtfully put together along the lines of any number of the kinds of episodes I had with Peggy or Linda or Susan,.......... you know,....real life. Ethos, pathos, character identification. And since I've worked in film, TV commercials, etc,.. I recognize what a tall order this is for the various producers. But whomever does it first will uncover a whole new vein of the market,... and their effort will be rewarded accordingly.
