How many dog lovers do we have, and which breeds are your favorite? Personally, I love miniature dachshunds, especially the smoothies. That gentle, inquisitive expression on the hound face steals my heart.

although i own a cat, i love dogs. my favorites are the golden retriever, the flat coated retriever, the bichon friese?, the german shepherd and the akita. also the siberian husky.

Yay! My favorite thread by far! I LOVE dogs!

My favorite dog is the Italian Greyhound. I just love their curious nature, and I think they're cute, despite how they look. Chinese Cresteds would be next (powderpuff), and then Shiba Inus, to me they look kinda like mini-akitas! Oh yeah! and the Basenji, gotta love a dog that doesn't bark.

I actually wanna raise IGs and learn how to show them in the small regional shows we have here. Good thread! Thanks!

All of them

I love all breeds of dog! :xpulcy: I've been blessed all my life that dogs, cats and kids love me too! :xpulcy: :xpulcy:
The breeds I like best are the ones that are big enough for a big man like me to wrestle around with on the floor; Great Pyrenees, Kuvasz, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Labs,Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Akitas, and of course really big Collies! 😀 I grew up with a gorgeous, huge Blue Merle Collie named Blue Boy, with silver and blue patches of fur. :bouncybou

I too am a cat owner, but I love dogs and have owned a few and plan on getting another down the road when my boys start retiring. Every breed brings something special and unique to the animal world, and they are all terrific in their own way. My favorites though would be Pugs, Newfoundlands, and this precious pup right here (with brindle being my ultimate favorite of all)....

I LOVE bulldogs, and my dream is to eventually have a girl bulldog named princess, precious, or petunia...something OVERLY girly and prissy.

Mimi 😀

Dogs are the best. I love all dogs, but my favorite breed, by far, are Rottweilers. They're friendly, loyal, protective and a lot of fun to wrestle around with. I currently have a two year old. She's huge already and hasn't even filled out yet. She always comes back and lays next to my chair when I'm on the pc.

I love dogs generally, too, and they generally love me. Unfortunately, I can't have one at the momemt, so my only way to satisfy that place in my heart currently is to watch dog shows on television. 🙂 My brother has a terrific, smart, gentle Rottweiler, but she lives in Florida.

My brother has a HUGE beast of a Rottie (he's over 7 feet tall on his hind legs and weighs in around 150-200lbs) named Booker. Problem is, he thinks he's a friggin lap dog. He'll come happily barreling at you to greet you when you come over, and wind up knocking you back about 10 feet. He's a big affectionate moose. Dumb ass eats tools, too. My nephew is a race car driver, and they have to be so careful not to drop the tools when they are working on the car, or else Booker will eat the damn thing before it ever touches the ground. Two days later you'll see the handle of a wrench or a bolt sticking out of a pile of poo, still intact, but in need of cleaning. I saw Booker grab my daughter by the hood of her jacket once and pull her down to the ground to play. I was ready to run over and intervene, but I didn't need to. Booker just dragged her from one side of the yard to the other, while my daughter giggled her ass off the whole way.

Rotties really do get way too much of a bad rap. There are a few problem dogs, yes, but you can have that in all breeds. And all the rotts I've ever known have been big lovey dovey gentle giants.

Hi Greg,

I love dogs too. We always had a german shepherd while I was growing up. I would like another dog one day, but not while I am working so much. I don't like the idea of a dog being home alone all day - they need people around.

I've been a cat person my whole life. This year I adopted the most gorgeous lab puppy, who I'm training to be a water rescue dog (I live near the river and summer brings lots of drownings.) I never had kids and I couldn't imagine loving anything as much as I do this pup~I can't wait to get home to him every day. My friends tease me constantly about it.

XOXO

I'm an animal lover in general, but dogs hold a special place in my heart. My favorites are Great Danes, German Shepherds, Boston Terriers, Chihuahuas, Greyhounds and Corgi's. Great Danes and German Shepherds are ones I will have to have eventually, though I have 2 wonderful mixed breed dogs now.

My cats are awesome. Even people who hate cats love one of mine who fetches balls for you, takes a shower without whining, comes when called, he's amazing. We think he is dog trapped in cat's body. :dog:
XOXO

This thread makes me keep thinking of Brad Pitt in "Snatch"... "so tell me, do ye lack dags?" WHAT? "DAGS!!"

Anyway, to answer the question, yes. Had a german shephard/alaskan husky and a black lab growing up. I'm partial to large short-haired breeds myself. Saw an awesome great dane yesterday.

My "Big Guy" Bruno is a St. Bernard / Burnese Mountain Dog. (see pic)
My favorite breeds are the big and heavies as I call them... St. Bernards, Burnese Mountain Dogs, Newfy's, Great Pyranees.

I'm a big heavy, and every dog I know thinks I'm one of them! :dog: :dog:
I suspect you might like me, just a little bit. :dog: :dog: :dog: :dog: :dog:

My brother's Rottie is a young female named Gracie, and she's a real character. Recently, she was in the house looking out, and she saw a black snake on the patio. Gracie growled fiercely at the snake-- until it raised its head and turned to look in her direction. Then, she not only whimpered and backed away from the sliding door, but later that afternoon, she wouldn't go out in the backyard to do her business.

That's one of many Gracie stories.

I love all dogs; my favs are german shepherds, golden retrievers, and siberian huskies. I want a shepherd-wolf hybrid, though I'm going to need a house with a yard before I can have one.

Hmmmmm... well... then all that's left is to get you fitted with a collar, buy a leash, get your shots then schedule the neutering.
:dog:
Just messin' with ya Sweetie... can I blame it on the pain pills??? :rotate:

Did anyone watch the dog show on Animal Planet last night? I guess that's a bit tame for TMFers, but I switched between it and baseball. 🙂
