Yeah, you read the title....

Donovan McNabb has been traded to the Washington Redskins for this years (2010) 2nd round pick and 3rd or 4th Rd pick in 2011.

So.....thoughts, feelings....discuss. Ill pop back by later for my thoughts.

Rob

Does that mean the Eagles are going with Vick or Kolb as there main quaterback? If it were me I would have stuck with Mcnabb.

WOW! and I mean... WOW!!!!

The Philly Eagles are fools. I never did understand why Eagle fans wanted to get rid of McNabb. I mean, the guy is a consumate professional, WINS games, and his tenure with the Eagles far surpass whatever Eagle QB has done before in the Super Bowl era. On top of that, you trade him to IN DIVISION rival???????? Who is running the Eagles, Ronald McDonald?

The Eagles will get what they deserve. Kevin Kolb is not the answer. Neither is Mike Vick. I sure hope they get what they deserve. Now they are going to realize what life is like without McNabb.....

I was at least hoping McNabb would go to San Francisco.. We are a QB away from being an elite team.....

Fuckin' WOW! I can't believe they actually traded him within the division.

The Redskins don't have a good enough team around McNabb to do anything significant and the Eagles are going at it with Kevin Kolb. This should mean good things for Dallas and New York.

Jason Campbell should be traded soon, recouping picks for the Redskins.

This is an interesting trade, the end of an era.

My bad....I forgot to put in the first post that during this evenings press conference that just ended (9:50pm EDT) that Kevin Kolb would be the starting quarterback per Andy Reid.

I too hope they get what they deserve.

I never liked McNabb but I always thought of them as a threat to win it all with him at QB. I'm thankful they never won a Super Bowl with him and I hope they are in a rut for a long time at QB because of this.

I definently can't believe he was traded within the division. I can't imagine him in the burgundy and gold.

Didnt the Eagles get rid of Westbrooke too? Or am I mistaken? I mean what the heck are they thinking.

I still can't believe they traded him within the division. That is just crazy. There's not a lot in Washington, but remember, for YEARS McNabb didn't have receivers in Philly. With Mike Shanahan as coach, I think the Redskins will be much better.

Dallas should still win the division, but Philly will go backwards, and the Redskins will get better. I have no idea what the Giants will do.

Why on earth would you trade McNabb to a rival? I am more shocked by that than anything else. Plus, the Eagles are getting younger. Westbrook is gone, Dawkins was gone last year, and now McNabb. I hope they know what they're doing....

Cowboy fans must be thrilled the Eagles are done for...

I dont really care, the Eagles suck and so do the Redskins, well the Skins might not suck as bad now. Lets go Cowboys.

Maybe they'll go after Jason Campbell.

And the worst part is, Vick got screwed because he's the backup again according to ESPN. That makes no sense. Vick was an established starting quarterback that can get out of almost any rush, yet lets put this unproven other guy in ahead of him. As for McNabb, his time had come to leave Philly. Something tells me that he ain't that heartbroken cuz that town shit on him whenever he had a bad game.

The Eagles are crazy! McNabb has had the Eagles in the playoffs or close to the playoffs for most of his time in Philly. If the Skins pass protect better than last year, McNabb will help them to beat Philly. Why trade him for a 2nd round pick and a possible 3rd or 4th. That's too much uncertainty. I would have traded him for some proven talent.

I was at least hoping McNabb would go to San Francisco.. We are a QB away from being an elite team.....

That would have been the most logical move in my book. The Niners have TWO first round picks and I'm sure a deal could have been worked out to include one of them.

Regardless, considering the deal as it is, I don't think it will mean Championships for either team or a step closer to a Championship (within the next five years).

Grades:

B for the Skins (McNabb is a little old and injury prone, Skins lack offensive power like Philly, trade impact contingent on McNabb re-signing with the Skins)

D for the Eagles (Traded their best ever QB... instead of a near washed up Vick or unproven Kolb, but they did get a decent return at least)

What the fuck?...

Well, I guess this means that they're betting they can get Suh or McCoy and that they don't need Bradford or Clausen.

As for the Eagles... Kolb? Andy Reid is either going to prove definitively that Kolb is the biggest bust since Jason Campbell, or he's going to go down in history as a visionary who rightfully saw massive amounts of talent in a guy no one else seems to.

Don't get me wrong. Kolb isn't bad, but I just can't see him being a franchise QB.

That being said... Damn it... I wanted the Panthers to grab McNabb.

Never was a huge McNabb fan..personally I think he's a little overrated. I mean this is just how I'm seeing it...It's not that they were a horrible team, the eagles made it to playoff games many times over the year, but they choke, and when they finally got to the superbowl...again...they choked. Losing to the Patriots. Now...getting rid of McNabb, maybe not so much of a bad idea, it gives philly the opportunity to expand, try something new. Maybe the McNabb puzzle piece wasnt the one that fits in the slot. This also gives McNabb a new taste. Now hes not in the same area anymore, he has a chance to adapt. who knows...maybe the skins will be the team for him?

The only way the Redskins improve if they get rid of Dan Snyder. End of story.

A once proud franchise is now a complete joke since he took over.

Not sure how McNabb can improve your backfield if newly acquired locker room cancer Larry Johnson back there.

The Chiefs ended the season on a good note by beating the donkeys in their crib with our new stud, Jamal Charles. Nobody misses Diaper Larry here.

When I first saw this news...I about fell right out of my chair, I was ABSOLUTELY stunned that they managed to get this, and also to grab a great QB in McNabb is just absolutely stunning. I think this is the best QB acquisition the Skins have made since bringing in Brad Johnson before the 1999 season.

I don't know how anyone can look at this deal and think that this was a Snyder pull...obviously Shanny and Allen thought that he could help the team win right now else they would not have made this move. I don't see this as other acquisitions by the Redskins in years past, and they can either trade their #4 pick down, especially if Bradford falls to #4 if the Rams don't think they can sign him. Or trade Campbell, which right now I don't want to happen cause I think he would be good to have as a backup this season.

In any case, this is the first move that has all around stunned me in a very long time, and you know that McNabb is going to playing with the biggest chip on his shoulder this season cause Philly fans and the organization all but gave up on him.

GO SKINS!!!!

Sorry, but the McNabb to Frisco deal was not going to happen. The coaching staff is convinced that Smith should be the starter and instead of pursuing a solid Veteran like McNabb, they went out and signed Carr.

I hope they made the right choice, because, as a Niners fan as well, I'm tired of us having one losing/mediocre season after another. Maybe now that Alex will have a solid year under Jimmy Raye under his belt, he'll finally become the quarterback that they thought he was capable of being. ...I'm not going to hold my breath.

According to Fat Andy, he asked McNabb where he wanted to go and McNabb said D.C.

Also, Snyder offered the Eagles the best deal...which was a second round pick.

Was McNabb worth a first rounder, Maybe, But apparently, no team that was interested in him was willing to give one up.

Also, the Eagles were trying to unload him because:

A. They were convinced that his better days were behind him

B. He was going into the last year of his contract and they were trying to get something fairly substantial for him as opposed to just holding on to him for another year and then letting him go.

Granted, that's a shitty thing to do to a guy that has been one of the best QB's in the league for several years, but I guess that's simply part of the business. Teams have done it for years and will continue to do it.

I am still stunned over this trade. The hilarious thing is, the Eagles will get to face McNabb to remind them of this bone headed trade.

I really hope McNabb does well in Washington. He is one of the good guys in the league and the way Philly fans treated him was ridiculous.

Alchemy, honestly, Alex Smith is garbage. If he does well great, but he's garbage. I knjew that before he was drafted. Sooner or later, people are going to realize Urban Meyer's college system does not prepare a QB for the NFL.

We should have bit the bullet, bring in McNabb and at least let Smith learn from him. Alex Smith hasn't had a GOOD veteran QB to learn from. That might have improved his game....

What is everyone gonna be saying if Vick comes back strong and makes a run with them?
Keep in mind he's four years younger than McNabb and still has his speed.

Well... In theory, the Eagles know his weaknesses and know how to shut him down. (of course, in theory, communism works 😀)

This is true. But are Washington fans much better?

I just hope McNabb does well to shut up nay-sayers and Philly fans alike. Donovan is a HoFamer and unfairly maligned.
