I'm sure that many forum members have at least tried Apple Pie at some point, and that also, many, like myself, like or love Apple Pie as their favorite dessert, and eat it on a regular basis.

So.. here's my question. Do you more prefer Dutch Apple Pie, Regular Apple Pie.. or is there really no difference? I'm asking for a couple of reasons.

I've tried both types of Apple Pies, from the supermarket I shop in. The "regular" Apple Pie sometimes tastes somewhat sour, and the crust is hard, and not always tasty.

The "Dutch" Apple Pie, is, in my opinion, absolutely delicious! The crust is flaky and moist, the taste of the apples, and the pie itself, is much sweeter, than the regular Apple Pie, and it does not have the somewhat "not fresh" or "sour" taste.

So.. that's the thread. Any feedback or opinions would be appreciated. I'm going to post a poll, and see what the results are. Thanks.

I love both but I love the Dutch apple pie just a bit more. 😀

Top that puppy off with some vanilla ice cream and YUM!

LOL. Thanks,. Angel. I agree with you about ice cream on the apple pie. It's awesome!

Dutch. I will have to see if they have that for desert at this truck stop I am at after I eat supper.:pie: :ilikepie:

My understanding is that a dutch apple pie isn't distinctive due to the crust, but due to the streusel topping.

I thought the same thing......never knew dutch apple had a flakier crust.

Mitch, are we talking about the same pie??:ilikepie:

kis, maybe you're right. I dont know. All I know is, the crust seems flakier, and more moist then regular apple pie.

Well, I'm not the pie moderator, but the top crust of the dutch apple is a delicious strusel topping which gives it a win in my apple pie book.

We Dutch sure know what to do with our apple pie. :cool2:

Didn't even know there was another kind of apple pie though, must be because we only have dutch apple pies here 😀

When I make apple pie I like to use Cortland apples and make a crumb top - sort of like the streusel top but no carmel.

I'm only gonna tell you once, Mitch. The King of Pies is the Deep Dish Dutch Apple Pie.
