The folks who invented the smartphone app "Grindr" for gay men are trying to develop one for straight folks ("Blendr" or something like that). So I've used both escorts and placed ads in Backpages (before that, Craigslist).

My experience with escorts is mixed - Sometimes you call and they say no thank you. Sometimes they're open to it, but they can't handle it and will try to offer straight-up sex instead. Sometimes you get a girl who is really ticklish and has a great attitude.

The ads, on the other hand, have a much higher hit rate. I tend to get girls who are genuinely ticklish, and I will turn them away if they are not. Many of them are not strippers but college girls looking to make some $ on the side. They do this precisely because it doesn't involve nudity or sex, so they don't feel dirty.
