Extreme good fortune update

A while back I posted a note describing an unusual run of good luck, during which I found significant cash lying on the sidewalk and then discovered a near perfect $20 gold piece under the floor boards of an attic. Well, lightning struck again yesterday,.... same sidewalk, in fact. While strolling to the local convenience store for a six-pack, I spotted a crumpled wad of bills on the pavement. It had just rained and they were sort of soaked all together, but it totaled $136.00. I glanced around as I picked it up,... nobody in sight,... and away we go.

I think the best thing about little "windfalls" like this is that we tend to feel uncharacteristically willing to use the surprise proceeds for luxury-type items we might not otherwise purchase. I certainly did,...

I found a wallet on the side walk once full of cash and credit cards. I returned it to my neighbor without taking anything.

My girl friend found a credit card stuck in an ATM, with complete access to the funds. She took it to the local police station without taking anything.

But that one $20 bill I found at BlockBuster years ago? That little fucker was mine.

I've only had two incidents of finding things in my life. One was mine by circumstance, and the other wasnt money, but I returned it, and got money.

I think I posted on here how after my mom died, I found a bunch of jewelry dumped in a plastic bag. When I went to sell it, it totaled several hundred.

Years ago, when we were teenagers, my ex best friend and I found a knapsack filled with things in it. It didnt have a wallet or money, but it did have an address. When we returned it to the guy it belonged to.. we found out his house had been robbed, and he had some valuable papers in the sack. He gave us $20 each for it.

Besides that, no unexpected findings for me.

I just went with on online estimate,..... the gold piece is just tucked away,.... waiting for me to get really desperate, I suppose,... but lately, things have been good
