I always wish there was a different scenerio to famous females in history instead of the brutal demise that occurred to them. Ive seen movies of Marie Anntoinete The last movie had the lovely Kristen Dunst in the role. Having Marie paraded thru the crowd was ok but it would have been better to lock her ankles in stocks and wrists tied above her head. Everyone could watch with glee as Marie is tickled on the soles of her feet and tickled on her armpits.Participants are then lucky enough to be pulled from the crowd to tickle Marie. After Maries feet are coated with brine her face turns to horror as two hungry goats make their way to her tasty soles. My other scenerio was Joan of Arc. She is elevated then tied to the stake. To her horror her boots are pulled off . One of torturers comment how smelly her feet are and for this she must suffer the consequences. The crowd roars their approval as the torturer pulls out a large feather and carresses Joans feet. Again crowd participation is popular as everyone wants a shot to tickle Joans feet. Ialways look at the Salem witch trials as a despicable episode in our history. If they really thought those girls were witches couldnt they have locked them in stocks in town square for an hour and tickle the soles of their feet.

for conversation sake i think they reason why these people werent tickled but instead executed was because of the nature in the "crimes" the committed against the people. marie and the french monarchy had for years reaped the benifits of the french economy while the common people were left to suffer and beg for what they had. Joan led an army that killed 1,000s of english soldiers and the british were half angry and half humiliated. the salem witch trials much like the red scare of the 50s created panic amongst the population. people feared these women and wanted to exterminate them as quickly as possible. i do think its fair to believe that tickling was used to tortured women at some point in history. new and colony america is littered with punishments involving stocks and if you go back in time someone who was in power at one point whether regionally or national somewhere in the world must have had a tickling fetish and with no rules and the need to punish others i am sure they acted on it. i mean after all we dont know everything about the past. who knows maybe some guard did go in there and tickle marie

Yeah, the people back then were basically brutal uneducated savages, as are many still today in this world, so tickling wouldn't have even entered their minds.

There have been scores of threads like this, and basically, we come at it from our American, civilized, horny-with-tickle-fetish perspective, and they went at it from the pure brutality aspect.

"Torture" depicted in tickle videos, and what people complain about when some co-worker or husband or wife tickles them, isn't torture. Not even close.

Torture was horrific, nightmarish stuff, often times not even depicted in horror or gore movies, or if it is, it's the movies people dare people to see.
People would go insane being told they'd be tortured.
I'm talking cutting off limbs, being drawn and quartered, having metal graters shred flesh, being burnt, etc.
People being tortured would turn their own spouses and children in.
If someone did a movie about the reality of the Inquisitions, it'd be rated XXXX for gore and brutality.

I guess if we were ever faced with one minute of the reality of what those poor souls endured.....I'm talking just watching it.....tickling would be the last thing on your mind.

....On a more positive note! I agree with the above posters - write stories about it. I think you'd do a great job. Write down thoughts when you get them, I have to all the time.

(Note - I wasn't trying to be harsh, and I mean it about the stories. I've just researched that once, and some of the stuff literally me me sick to my stomach, and caused me a few
sleepless nights. You have to literally not think about it to not go crazy.

It probably wasn't. When people were put in the stocks, other people would throw rotten vegetables and fruit and dead animal at them, beat them and spit on them. There was not a lot of fun around back in those days.

I've read that a lot of what we currently hear about the past in regards to torture during the dark ages is not entirely true. Stuff like Iron Maidens weren't even used; they were created and fake blood put inside of them and put on display for people to see much later. Each generation of people like to point how how savage and uneducated prior generations were and torture exhibits (complete with equipment that was rarely used, indeed some of it created just to be put on display) "prove" how enlightened we are now.

The usual torture people were sentenced to was beatings, and for women, rape. I'm not downplaying that, but I'd rather be beaten than put in an Iron Maiden, or have a metal boot crush my foot (both of which were made up for display purposes later on).

I'm sure that tickling did occur while people found themselves locked in stocks in a town square for example. With men, women, and children passing by, I'm sure the occassional tickler would decide to have some fun.

What we know today as Iron Maiden was actually used as a Coat of Shame. People were put in it and had to wear it somewhere public, which was unbelievable uncomfortable as it got pretty damn hot in that thing and it was heavy as hell. There were no knifes in it to stab people though, that is just a gruesome fairytale.

Although way before the middle ages there probably was one "Iron Maiden" which was actually used in ancient sparta, it was called "Apega" after the king of nabis' wife. It is pretty likely that this one actually existed, but pretty unlikely it was ever used in the middle ages.

Another device that was not used as we thought it was is the chastity belt.

That is not correct. Almost all of the torture devices you can see today in mostly European former torture chambers and museums of that kind were actually used, and they were quite effective. Beatings did take place, but were usually used as actual punishments. Tortures were much more refined and elaborate than that and usually followed a very strict sequence. It is all drawn out in every detail in old justice books such a the Witch Hammer.
