Hi Friends,

Question for you: I find that when I entertain tickling fantasies it's important to me that they could actually happen, that is, happen either in real life or in a media context such as within a TV or movie plot. In other words, I can fantasize about Jessica Alba getting tickled as her character in, say, Dark Angel, but I can't do much with the idea of me personally tickling her or any other Hollywood lovely. It's too unrealistic. Do any of you feel the same way as me, or can your fantasies encompass the truly fantastic, improbable and miraculous?

Thanks,

ddd

Hmm, interesting.

First of all, I'm one of the biggest fantasy/sci-fi fans there are, so I'm used to dealing with the magical/implausible/faroff. It's all about imagination. Setting the story in a far-off world helps draw us out into that world, in my opinion. I prefer stories that involved made up people in made up situations, throwing real people in the mix breaks that fourth wall for me. Of course, this is coming from someone, once again, who too often has his head in Faerun/Middle Earth/Greyhawk/The Beta Quadrant. =P

Your mileage may vary, I know many people that enjoy talking about 'real' people, as real as celebrities are to us, and all the more power to them. =)

Dear Adalon,

Thanks for your reply. If I interpret you correctly (though I'm not sure I do), in essence you share my basic limitation on fantasy--or in fact you even do me one better. For you it is reality itself which breaks the fantasy, so that not only wouldn't you insert yourself into, say, celebrity stories, you keep out real people altogether from the imagined setting. But, paradoxically, this very exclusion is how you keep the fantasy "real" and believable. Just like me you avoid mixing the realms: In my example, Jessica Alba won't be tickled by yours truly (alas!!); in your case people from our known universe won't enter the fantasized world.

Am I close to understanding your meaning?

By the way, I could totally have believable fantasies taking place in a far-flung, scifi world--in fact, I've had a number of Star Trek fantasies--as long as the story obeys the "rules" of that reality. For example, in order for T'Pol to be believably tickled, a lot of details must be accounted for and handled very carefully. Logically enough, it's a tricky business!

I totally agree with dig dug dog here. I can only enjoy fantasies, that could actually happen, meaning I only enjoy fantasizing about people I actually know or have at least spoken to. Celebrities, fictional characters, monsters, aliens or even machines don't do anything for me.
When it comes to what's going to happen to me in my fantasies though, I do get a bit unrealistic sometimes, hey, but that's what fantasies are for, right? 😉

I have some entirely unrealistic fantasies, so I guess that sets me apart from those who must have realism.

I'm with you all the way on this.

Hey minerva--thanks for your reply! Now the truth is that you only partially agree with me (because I love celeb fantasy), but I appreciate what you are saying: realism really counts for you too. In fact, you take realism even more seriously in that you need to have a human connection with the fantasy figure and he or she needs to be REAL! Based on past conversations around here, this definitely seems to be the female tendency. (I assume from your screen name that you are a woman, yes?) I'm sure there are many exceptions to this rule, but women just seem much less into celebrity fantasizing. Any other women care to comment?

Care to share an example? Can you put yourself into the story line with the likes of a Jennifer Love Hewitt, Eliza Dushku, or Kate Beckingsale?

Thanks,

ok, I stand corrected - I only partially agree with you - sorry 😀
I guess the reason why most woman probably fantasize about someone they know is because woman in general are more focused on having at least some kind of relationship with the person they want to play with. Hot looks alone wont do most of the time. At least thats the reason for me - and ehhm - yes, last time I checked I was very much female 😀

I prefer realism. For me its just much easier to grasp.Much more attainable which makes it more desired.Just my opinion. 😀

Heya dig dug,

You hit it spot on. Like you mentioned with Star Trek, as long as the rules and conventions are made consistent within whatever world you choose, I am happy. Myself tickling Jennifer Aniston, unfortunately(!), is not consistent with the world I am living in. I read your story with T'Pol and it was awesome, since the conventions were respected, their personalities were spot-on, and we could indeed visualize Star Trek characters in a Star Trek environment. =P

This is not to say I haven't read some excellent celebrity/self-insertion stories, because I know there are many, but I personally prefer, once again, not to break that fourth wall.

Thanks for posing this interesting question, I hope that many others respond. =D

Adalon--thanks for your kind words about my Star Trek story. That was written quite a while ago; I'm glad some people remember. I wish I had more time to write, but I'm back in grad school these days. I have an ongoing fantasy where T'Pol acquires a virus specific to Vulcans which breaks down their emotional control somewhat. During this period Trip comes to give her neural-pressure treatment in an effort to help her with the illness's other symptoms (aches and pains, kind of like the flu). Good and fascinating times follow thereupon, requiring delicate literary (and other types of) handling.

Some fantasies include being carried off by Margo Dydek (#12 below) and being the tickle slave of Keira Knightley. 😀

Cool. I'll just call you 'Gulliver'.

That's funny, I had Keira in my original list to you, but I wanted to have more variety and not two Brits. I could really see Keira having a lot of fun, nasty attitude while tickling someone. And her accent...oh my, I've got to lie down now....

Keeping it real!

I try keeping it real if I can, but it's all about being erotic. Still I think most people have enjoyed my stuff no matter how much bull shit there is to it lol.

When the wall comes tumbling down...

This is not to say I haven't read some excellent celebrity/self-insertion stories, because I know there are many, but I personally prefer, once again, not to break that fourth wall.

Breaking the 4th wall is what I do best!
