Goodbye Marlon. Thanks for your talent and contribution to the cinema. Thanks for the "Godfather" a forever classic and thanks for the memories both good and bad(more good).

Hope you find peace on the other side and hope it is what you dreamed it would be.

Not really much to say here as far as accalades....his body of work speaks for itself. One of the filmdoms greatest actors.

Does anyone remember Brando ice-skating in his late 60s in "The Freshman"?

Drew

Yes, but what I remember most is the line "I coulda been a contender," from "On the Waterfront". 😀

He was one of the greatest American actors of the twentieth century. From everything I've ever heard about him in his personal life, though, the character "Kurtz" he played in 'Apocalypse Now' just might be the real Brando. The interviews I've seen of his (Larry King, et al) sort of support this.
He certainly was a legend. Brando's one of the few I stop all activity for when I surf by his films on the tube.

From one Italian to another...

Ciao Signore.

(I'm with Knox, always grim to lose yet another great legend...)
XOXO

Farewell and thank you for your contributions to American Theatre and Movies, Marlon!

For those who are not aware, Marlon Brando was one of the first actors to show that serious acting could draw a crowd. He was an accomplished stage actor as well as a mega-movie star. He made a huge impact on stage during the time when the norm was Vaudeville. His 1951 portrayal of Stanley Kowalski in STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE was so realistic and believable that it changed opened the doors for the dramatic plays and movies we see today.

Farewell to a giant among actors.

In my opinion, Marlon Brando is one of the most iconic figures of the big screen. I hugely enjoy watching The Godfather and Apocalypse Now because of the awesome and intense performances he did. His presence on-screen was mesmerising, even if he wasn't much off it. A true legend missed.

Actually, one of his roles that I most enjoyed was Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls - and how ironic I found it that Frank Sinatra was jealous that he got the part! 🙂

If you caught the Top 100 songs in film recently, you got to hear Brando singing "Luck be a Lady" in a convincing tenor voice.

May he find some dice to roll in heaven...or wherever his final resting place is.
