You'll have most of your baggage till you die in one form or another, but you may find you think of it differently after you've lived with it for a while.

And there's plenty of women who'll put up with various things. (As I've happily discovered! 😀) All it takes is time and practice.

And practice incidentally, means trying something and fucking it several times before you get it right. There is no other way. The only way you do something right is by making a complete and total pile of crap of it several times and learning all the ways it shouldn't be done.

Thomas Edison tried a couple of thousand ways to make an electric light bulb work, but they all failed because he had the wrong combinations of gas inside the glass. When asked by a journalist why he wasn't daunted by these failiures, he replied...

They are not failiures, they are all sucesses. I've sucessfuly proved that these two thousand methods will not work, and am now much closer to finding the way that will.

That's paraphrasing the great man, but that's the gist of it. Remember it mate, because there's no better piece of advice you'll ever get. The only way you'll ever be a winner is by losing many times.

jim- you da bomb! Seriously though, your advice was very sincere, well thought out and useful. I could use to learn a thing or two from you... most of us could. We ALL have our inner demons and our baggage.

When it comes to women hell it's like a big blackhole and all fasets there with. I'm very sick of failure so there for I stop trying thats right I gave up for the first time in my life. Was this the best choice? of course not, but it made sence to me so now at 24 I practially ignore all women I am not related to (no offence) and likewise enjoy a certain freedom

It's alright, I understand Hosetickler... I'm a woman who is 25 so I now the age group pretty well. You will prob never understand women just like we will prob never understand men. You are up against the same obstacles as millions of others your age and it can be super hard... as a single man you have a lot of freedom that other men would kill for... keep that in mind. But, don't forget, there are decent woman out there. Ask the guys around here... we are all in the same boat. Have some faith and keep your chin up... you got friends here.

Without love, you'll have every reason to regret your attitude some 10, 20 or 30 years down the line. Can you imagine a life without interaction with the opposite sex? Hell would be a good description. I speak from experience, Hose. I had my heart broken by a lady I adored, and when I finally told her about my feelings, she pointed her finger at me and said, "Stop it right now!" I did stop it... for a long time. I hated women for a time. A friend finally told me, "Frank, she could never love you as much as she loves herself." (She was Miss Arizona '84 and '85, I believe).
I survived. I'm worth loving and SO ARE YOU. Don't give up. Look in the mirror and tell your reflection, "I hate you!" I guarantee that you'll cry. How could you be cruel to the one who has been with you through it all... YOURSELF! You are a lovable and loving person. Don't give up. Treat women as friends first, not prospective mates. That'll be a weight off your shoulders. I'm sorry I'm droning on and on. I just know exactly what you speak of. Take care. If you never experience a broken heart, how will you know when true love comes along?

The fact that you're lonely gives you a broken heart. The fact that you don't have someone in your life right now gives you the empty space. Welcome to the world of relationships! It's rough out there trying to find someone who you may spend the rest of your life with. People are so selfish nowadays and they're always looking for who and what gives them the most pleasure. Relationships are about giving, not taking.

That's one of several reasons why I've been on my own for several years. It's not fun and it does get very lonely at times. But after ten years in a self-absorbed marriage, I'm burned out and am not willing to give up my freedom to someone not mature enough to handle it with care. I filled my time up with other things, but I would like the company of a man sometimes (and not just for the physical stuff either). Companionship, friendship, someone to ease the lonliness. But then, he can go home! I don't know if I want another man sharing space with me. I'm not into someone telling me what to do with my money, my body, and my time. I don't know if my mind will change on it or not, but that's where I am today.

I'm much the same I do not enjoy being told what to do with my time, money, and life which is why I avoided realationships usually on weekends Im in Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, or Pennsylvania fighting Confederate Soilders with the rest of the 79th NYSM, 1st USSS, or the Trion County Milita.

When it comes to relationships, it's about giving and sacrifice for the other person. If you're not ready to commit to that, then it is best to stay single. Unfortunately, it won't work both ways. Either you hurt by staying alone, or you hurt someone else by not putting their needs ahead of yours.

Mate, I didn't lose my virginity till I was 25. It does happen. These days there's so much in the public eye about how people are losing their virginity at 13 or 14 and it becomes a pressure thing if you're a late bloomer.

Then you havn't failed enough. Guys I know who have shagged their way through more women than I could count have at least fifty more rejections then they do sucesses. And these guys are the confident, charismatic bastards! You wonder how many "Get lost wirdo!"'s guys like you and me have to put up with before we are lucky enough to find outselves in a relationship? A lot!
