This guy just won't go away gracefully.
Indeed.Sadly,he is going to wind up like Johnny Unitas,Joe Namath, and so many other athletes who just don't know when its time to walk away.If he winds up doing anything other then tarnishing his legacy,i will be suprised.
I'm glad he signed with them. It adds another dimension to that team and division. It also means we don't have to listen to any more of that Farve-watch bullshit. He needs to be shot the next time the word retirement leaves his mouth.
I was on record last year when the Jets got Farve that I HATED the move. I was right then. I am probably going to be right now.Yep. It finally happened.
So opinions?
I think this moves the Vikings into the top 3 teams of the NFC, and could put them over the top.
Suprising....no. Shocking........yes.
Rob

It does not make them a top three team. When Tom Brady went down last year the Jets were suppose to make the Super Bowl. How did that work out???
Oh that's right, Farve threw nine INT's and only two TD's in the final five games and wasted away the season and not make the playoffs.
If I were a Vikings fan, don't trust Brett Farve.
Expect nothing.
Brett Fav-rah is the most overrated quarterback in NFL history.
not taking up for Farve but let us be fair, He was injured final half of season. At this stage of his career it would be hard for him or any QB to lead a team to the SB
Probably because he probably shouldn't have been out there in the first place. Instead of retiring while still on top, he's starting to look pathetic IMO.
I subscribe to the "do not tempt fate" theory. The man needs to go home to his family and enjoy his retirement. He's going to end up like Michael Jordan, playing two minutes a game and rocking the bench with ice bags (not packs) wrapped around his knees the rest of the time.
He won't be satisfied until he ends up unable to walk someday. Go get your wife & kids, your golf clubs and go have some fun. I wish I had his money, I would've retired a long time ago..........
that's easy for you to say if playing a specific sport wasn't your life....for those who have played the game, and eat, breathe, shit, live it, and it seems if that's all you know, it is very hard to leave it.....

I understand more than you know; my daughter left her college basketball career. She's played basketball since she could walk; it was the most painful experience I ever witnessed in her young life. But she knew it was time to go and staying wouldn't benefit her or her teammates. Now if she can figure that out in college amateur ball, Farve can figure it out as a pro.
His skills have drastically dimished, he's nowhere near as healthy as he used to be. Has he been a productive team member as of late? No he hasn't; if anything he's been a burden to those who entrusted him to effectively do his job.
What is he waiting for? For someone to permanently injure him? I'd rather retire walking on my own two feet than to be taken out on a stretcher. Jordan couldn't leave either; I wouldn't want to be his knees right now.
Favre should go home to his family, get his golf clubs out, get a hobby, make a foundation, or do any of numerous things his fame, status, and money allow him to do. Staying in the game is only asking for trouble.
"I'm going to retire. Changed my mind, not going to retire. No, I really am going to retire. Actually, I think I'll play another year. Ok, I'm going to retire for real this time. Wait I changed my mind, I want to play again. What's that, you got another quarterback because I retired and had a tearful goodbye press conference? Fine, trade me to a division rival. You don't want to trade me to the team I want? Fine, I'm retiring. No I changed my mind, I'll play for someone else. I'm retiring again, this time definitely for real. The Vikings made me an offer, no thanks, I'm not coming back. Ok, nevermind, I want to play again."
He's a selfish, attention seeking *****.
Not only is it funny, it's unfortunately a pretty accurate assessment (sans the last sentence).
Would it be more acceptable if I replaced "*****" with "prima donna?"
Are you trying to tell me he has been unable to leave the game on his own terms??? He has been the one to tell us that he wanted to retire a Packer. He has been the one to tell us he didn't have anything left to give. NOBODY broke his arm ( though the way he played for the Jets last year he played like they did ) to return to the game. It was HIS chose. Don't give us this crap that he wants to leave the game on his own terms. He is a media hound. He is a diva. He wants his name in the spotlight though there are about 28 better QB's than he is right now.I agree with you, however, I will only add that the thing any player wants, is the ability to leave on his/her own terms, not when everyone else wants him/her to leave

Posted below are some of Brett " The Media ***** " Farve's Lies as I take you through the Years!!!
Turns out that Brett Favre has something in common with his fans. My opinions are wasted on all of them. So let's hear from the man himself, the World According to Favre:
March 2, 2001, after signing a contract that made him the NFL's first $100 million player: "I do want to be a Packer for life ... I couldn't envision myself playing with another team ... If that was to ever come up, I would probably just retire."
November 7, 2003: "I don't know if it's going to be this year, next year. I mean, I still think there's a lot left out there for us and a lot left out there for me."
March 31, 2006, Biloxi Sun-Herald: "If I do play this year, it will be my last. There's no doubt about that."
May 6, 2006: "I know I said that. But I hope you guys will respect me. I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it."
September 6, 2006, in response to a question by Bob Costas, he says he's "99.9 percent" sure he'll retire as a Green Bay Packer.
December 31, 2006, interviewed by NBC's Andrea Kremer after Green Bay's 26-7 win over the Bears at Soldier Field: "If today is my last game, I want to remember it. It's tough ... tough. I'll miss these guys, and I'll miss the game ..."
February 3, 2007, quoted by Packers GM Ted Thompson in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "I think I'll go one more time."
May 14, 2007: "... I don't want to be traded. I want to finish my career as a Packer."
January 10, 2008, in the Biloxi Sun-Herald, three days before a playoff game against Seattle: "For the first time in three years, I haven't thought this could be my last game. I would like to continue longer."
January 21, 2008: "I'm not going to rush to make a big decision, but it will probably be quicker than it's been in the past."
March 6, 2008: "It's been a great career for me, but it's over ... I don't think I've got anything left to give."
April 3, 2008, asked about Favre coming back, his agent, Bus Cook, tells the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer: "That's news to me. I don't think that has anything to do with anything. He's retired, period, point blank."
April 10, 2008, Biloxi Sun-Herald: "I very well could be enticed."
April 25, 2008, before a luncheon honoring his image on the cover of Madden '09: "First of all, I'm not going to keep myself in shape ... There were always second thoughts ... It wasn't ever a clear-cut decision."
Free Draft Guide July 14, 2008, interviewed by Fox's Greta Van Susteren, Favre says he was "never fully committed" to retiring: "If I play, it's going to be 100 percent commitment."
August 8, 2008: "I'm here for one reason ... I'm here to help the Jets win."
February 12, 2009: "It's been a wonderful career, I couldn't ask for anything more. It was worth a shot for me to go to New York. I wish I could've played better down the stretch. I didn't.
"It's time to leave."
June 15, 2009, asked by Joe Buck about the Vikings (after his wife had made a deposit on a condo in Minnesota): "It makes a lot of sense because the pieces are in place."
July 29, 2009: "I didn't feel like physically I could play at a level that was acceptable. I would like to thank everyone, including the Packers, Jets and Vikings, but, most importantly, the fans."
August 18, 2009, asked about wearing a Vikings helmet: "It was different. I'm not going to lie to you."
