*Fav Rap song of all time*

Mmmmm......let me think......???????????...

.....its hard to pick a favourite, but i just love that round hole in the middle of all rap records.

WHAT?😕 Oh! I see you Luv rap music dearly! me too man whats ur fav song?

Well..since Rap had become "evil" type stuff after say the mid to late 1980's....id say for me it would be "Hot Hot Summer Day" by Sugarhill Gang from 1980 (this one hit the Bilboard underground disco charts belive it or not) and "The Show" by Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew from 1985.

DJ Jimmy M

Can't choose between Ladi Dadi by Slick Rick and the Humpty Dance by Digital Underground. Both are timeless.

Ladi Dadi..thats the B Side of "The Show" 12"..then Slick Rick was known as MC Ricky D. Yes..very timeless and classic stuff! And to Krazy..what I ment by evil is "kill da white people" (Apachie did that one in 93), and just all that bullshit about "slap da ho, rape da biatch", shoot da mutha fucka, etc..THAT's what im talkin bout! But dont worry..I aint including 2 Pac in that LOL..like I said on the other thread he was one of the few "newer" rappers that didnt do that shitand I respect him for that..even though I wasnt into his raps, he was just speaking his art.

DJ Jimmy M

my only favorite is the 1st one I heard many moons ago, the classic Rappers Delight...danced many times to that one, brings me back to my college years.

DJ Jimmy M...forgive me if I am wrong but it was by the Sugar Hill Gang?

(really I was just an ole disco queen from the bronx! LOL)

My two favorites are "Couch Potato" by "Weird Al" Yankovic and a little-known ditty by a guy whose name I don't recall that parodied "U Can't Touch This", called "I Didn't Write This". That second one pretty much sums up how I feel about the entire gender of rap music.

'course, a close friend of mine is appearing in a rap video by an up-and-coming star (read: his career will be over by tommorow), so I'll probably have to stomach sitting through a few hours of MTV to catch it on unless they put it on a web site somewhere...

"Award Tour" by Tribe Called Quest is one of the greatest hip hop/rap songs of all time. Tribe themsleves (along with De La Soul) are the two greatest acts of all time.

Blondie - Rapture

😉

And Denise LaSalle did a little number with a good rhythm in concert once. She was really just making grunting sex sounds with a few rhyming words tossed in, but it was good. 😛

Rap music? My father once told me that's what he listens to at Christmas. Wrapping presents requires music. Wrap music. His favorite is "Pretty Paper" by Jim Reeves.

😀

Joby, now listening to the Best of Brook Benton

whoa whoa i said RAP not 80's rock, and this wasnt a joke thread.

I am not a rap fan by any strtch of the imagination, but one song that sticks in my mind that I actually liked is "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash.

I still crank the same good ol rock and roll I listened to in HS, when I'm crusing in my truck.

Sucker M.C.s by Run-DMC. Most Hip-Hop music has fell off over the last 10yrs or so. Today its all about money, jewelry, and cars. I really enjoy the 80's hip-hop, it was all about self expression and the creation of a verbal art form.

i have several songs. i cant pinpoint just one. here are a few.

1) So Many Tears- 2pac
2) I luv it- Eastsidaz
3) Chin Check- NWA
4) If i cant- 50 cent
5) Humpty Dance- Digital Underground
6) Lose yourself- Eminem

and there are so much more, but these just stand out a lot to me.

J Pie..yes that is Sugarhill ripping off the bassline from the 12" version of Chic's "Good Times" LOL. I know you were a disco queen..im STILL a disco king!😀 Actualy belive it or not that first Sugarhill LP from 79 with that track on it only had 1 other rap song. The rest of the LP was disco. Good shit I may add too. And whoever was mentioning Denise Lasalle..another person who had an underground disco classic with "Im So Hot". And Krazy..where the hell do you get 80s rock outta whats been mentioned😕 😕 ..I did it once before so i think im gonna start a disco thread since theres some new faces round here LOL

DJ Jimmy M

Prime are you and me the only people in the new generation here?,btw i didnt know that BLONDIE was rap hmmmm cuz it aint it's 80's rock on GTA: Vice city

Some classic stuff like Grandmaster Flash and Public Enemy are still great, but I've an open mind on most music, and to me, rap/hip-hop is poetry for the urbanites. Not all rap is caucasian-hating, Nation of Islam, and pimping and ho's, as my examples would show...

Gimme Some More - Busta Rhymes (mad lyrics and superb video)
Miss Jackson - Outkast (an apologetic hip-hop song? Believe it...)
Grandmaster Flash - The Message (poverty for a minority sucks)

that aint a rap song Dan, although that shit is funny as hell! lmfao

I love the old school stuff, and it's hard to pick one. Beastie Boys? Run DMC? Public Enemy? The Rappin' Duke? Well, it was one of my 1st, but I think I have to go with Dougie Fresh's "The Show" as well..... Although "Magnificent 7" by The Clash is an interesting interpretation of rap.

Modern stuff.... yeah, "Lose Yourself" by Eminem I like....

Blondie did "Rapture" with Fab Five Freddy. It was the first pop song with a rap riff in it, just as rap was getting very popular in NYC clubs.

OK, I am a retard and pressed enter and it posted my unfinished list! Anyways!
Booty Call by Blackstreet, College Girls are Easy by Easy E, Regulators by Warren G, Automobile by N.W.A, and Of course, the Humpty Dance
(By the way, I am really glad to see that Baby Got Back is not on here lol)
