Favorite Horror movies

Didn't I just answer this in another thread?

Dawn of the Dead (1977)

I think there was a similar thread to this one a couple weeks ago ...

Definitely my favorite is Scream ... legendary, i don't care what anybody says ...

Dawn of the dead (notable mention: diary of the dead)

Friday the 13th (The first one, fucking classic)

High Tension

The Hitcher

Halloween 2 (notable mention: 6 - the curse of michael myers)

Wicker Man (original)

Evil Dead (I and II)

Event Horizon

Club Dread (so good)

as for me

Dawn Of The Dead both versions

Night Of The Living Dead both versions

Halloween

Friday The 13th - Even tho the kids are so dumb you can choke em with a cordless phone

Shaun of the Dead...because I'd be as oblivious to the whole zombie invasion thing as Shaun was.

Evil Dead 1 & 2
Suspiria
Nightmare On Elm Street (first one only)
Haxan

Yeah, a thread like this was done a couple of weeks ago, but I like horror so...

my personal favorites:

Dawn of The Dead (both versions)
The Thing (John Carpenter version)
The Wicker Man (1973)
The Descent
Alien
The Devils Rejects
Halloween (Carpenter)

exorcist
halloween 1 and 2 (including zombie's remake)
nightmare on elm street 1 and 2
dawn of the dead (remake)
28 days/weeks later

that's all i can think of for now.

I have a shitload. I scare easy.

The main one for me will always be The very first Nightmare on Elm Street.

Off the top of my head

In the mouth of Madness(a movie any true H.P. Lovecraft fan should watch)
Pinochio's revenge (I know, i know, the name sounds bad, but watch this movie if you get the chance. I found the ending very well done and very disturbing.)

The only movies that have given me any spook since childhood are:

Deads Night and Dawn (original)
Exorcist
The Orphanage
Rosemary's Baby

But I think that criteria is unfair for some of us that don't scare easy. Nice to see Suspiria and The Thing mentioned already. More in the mood:

Hellraiser 1-3
Nightmare on Elm St. 1-3. I love Dream Warriors. Penned by Frank Darabont, which leads me to...
The Mist
Candyman
Shadow of the Vampire

Now I'm all in the mood to watch these.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Pumpkinhead yet. That was a seriously fucked up movie. Lance Henriksen played that role to a T, and it really showed the evil inherent in going too far to invoke vengeance. Even the physical setting of the film gave you such a deep feeling of isolation, of a world within the borders of our own, but outside of its morality and civility.

Plus, the monster was just fuckin' kewl. :triangle:

Another favorite of mine was the original version of The Hitcher with the inimitable Rutger Hauer.

exorcist
halloween 1 and 2 (including zombie's remake)
nightmare on elm street 1 and 2
dawn of the dead (remake)
28 days/weeks later

that's all i can think of for now.

Hell yea dave

I'm not a huge fan of horror, but I do have a soft spot for "Children Of The Corn" 🙂

I have a love/hate thing with horror movies - mostly cause I'm a big wuss LOL

When a Stranger Calls hit a spot with me
and I love the Saw movies - not a fan of the gore, but I like the puzzle aspect of it

I forgot about When A Stranger Calls...so frightening.

And I'm kinda looking forward to this one. I'm a sucker for musicals...
