If I may, I'd like to offer an idea that is a comparable alternative to "role play," but which Susan and I found 'way more interesting and useful. As some of you already know, I'm very much intrigued by the whole matter of how all our fetish interests got started,..... the so-called "early experiences" from the formative years. Well, I had plenty of these as a kid and adolescent,... and I could think back to each one and, with the benefit of hindsight, imagine a better outcome,... an improved chemistry of the event which might have greatly smoothed the self-conscious anxiety that often accompanied trying to deal with this stuff when you're just a kid,.. or a teenager. With me so far?
There used to be a TV show called Quantum Leap. The lead character (played by Scott Bakula) would find himself each week jumping into the mind and body of someone involved in a past event,... and somehow "correcting" or securing the outcome. Susan and I made this the model for several totally memorable experiences. I would relate to her something which happened to me, say when I was eleven,... maybe the girl next door,.... gee, wouldn't it have been great if that girl had an emerging insight or empathy for us poor guys saddled with foot- and tickling fetishes? Great, eh?
I would describe to Susan every detail of something that happened in the past,.... we would re-create the scenario,.. and Susan would take on the companion role in a manner in which I wished it could have happened originally. It was more than just a game; I got to revisit some of those formative dynamics, and Susan obtained a certain insight into it, as well. It was fabulous.
