Fave Christmas songs
Dammit ... gotta make a decision now ...
Err ...
Okay. Jona Lewie, Stop the Cavalry. Any song with the lyric 'dubba dubba dum dum, dubba dubba dum, dubba dum dum dubba dum, dubba dubba dum' has to be in there. Wasn't even supposed to be a Christmas record until the suits got hold of it, either.
Ooh! And Christmas Rapping by err ... who was it? *Googles* The Waitresses. Cool song - love the brass section.
I'll throw my vote in on Fairytale of New York, too, for lyrical excellence and in memory of the sadly missed Kirsty McColl.
I could also support All I Want For Christmas Is You, but if I'm absolutely honest I'd support anything Mariah Carey sang in that Santa suit she's poured into. MMMMM.
Finally - this is my absolute all-time favourite, cracks me up every time.
(To the tune of 'walking in a winter wonderland')
Lacy things, the wife is missing
Didn't ask for her permission
I'm wearing her clothes, her silk pantyhose
Walking 'round in women's underwear
In the stores, there's a teddy,
With little straps, like spaghetti
It hold me so tight,
Like handcuffs at night,
Walking 'round in women's underwear
In the office, there's a guy named Melvin
He pretends that I am Murphy Brown,
He'll say are you ready, we'll say -Whoa, man!
At least until the wife is out of town.
Later on, if you wanna
We can dress, like Madonna
Put on some eyeshade, and join the parade,
Walkin 'round in women's underwear
Lacy things, missing
Didn't ask permission
I'm wearing her clothes, silk pantyhose
I'm walking around in women's underwear
Don't know who it's by, or where it's from, just makes me laugh. And isn't that what Christmas is all about?
