Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre (ankle) informed the team Monday, Aug. 2, that he plans to retire for a third time, the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Judd Zulgad reports. Favre has been unwilling to commit to playing this season, in large part because he has felt his left ankle has not responded the way he hoped after undergoing surgery in late May.

What do you think, third time's the charm?
 
He has already told several Vikings he is done. Plus the ankle injury you mentioned. Many have reported that his doctors told him one more ankle injury could result in Favre walking with a permanent limp.
 
It's pretty much, we won't believe it until the first game and if he's there or not. Favre has waffled so many times over the past 4-5 years about retiring that no one really believes him. He's like the boy who cried wolf; no one believes him.

Right now, it's just rumor. Childress wasn't aware of Favre's decision. So... :shrug:

I'll believe it about 5 games in if he still isn't there, even then ill be expecting him to come back at any moment. I guess ill believe it when i see it

He's still claiming that he's undecided and that the reports are false.

The Vikings are screwed if he actually retires this time. I thought he'd be back for sure and now it looks as if he is actually done. The Vikings are going from being a legit contender, assuming Favre would've performed as well as last season, to a wild-card team.

Didn't Favre sign a two-year contract to play for the Vikings? Can't he be held to that? :idunno:

They can't force someone to play. Players can retire when they please. Barry Sanders left the Lions with time left on his contract.
 
I honestly don't believe it, this is just a cover up to get him out of training camp, the only difference is last year he wasnt under contract this year he is. Fave will be back for another season, the man isn't leaving until he wins one more superbowl.

I think the way Favre has handled things regarding retirement is deplorable. But if he really decides he won't be QB for the Vikings this year, that team just went from Super Bowl contender to maybe 9-7, all but handing the division to Green Bay.

Unless I'm totally wrong about Sage Rosenfelds...
 
Favre is TOTALLY going to retire this time... At least until the preseason is over. Then it's on. 😀
 
This is the one year I hope he returns so he'll be there when Dallas kicks Minnesota's ass.

I don't think so. Minnesota proved to be the better team last season and should've played Indianapolis in the Super Bowl, but October 17, 2010 will be a new day. I'm glad it's going to be played in the Metrodome. It's a tough environment to play in and will provide Dallas with a solid victory to build on as they march toward Super Bowl XLV.

Considering the Super Bowl will be played in Dallas, I'm sure the Cowboys WILL be there....as the ushers march them right up to their box seats to watch the game. :bwahaha:

Thank you sir! It has been a long time coming. Sadira and I have been engaged since Feb 2009. We have been together since 2005! So like I said, it has been a long time coming.


I hope you listen to last night's show on archieves. I thought it was a pretty good one. Even talked about the likes of your QB Brett Favre.
