Despite my own abused-as-a-kid background (and really, how many MILLIONS of us are out there??) the bondage issue was never a struggle for me (I've been lucky enough to only be tied by people I adore!) but it is HUGE with some very good friends of mine. I think you have to make it as UNLIKE the terror you experienced as a kid (and maybe talk to a competent therapist) to conquer those demons...It's why I suggested the candles, silk scarves, etc. Once you learn to associate it with something FUN and positive you can do away with the trappings...or maybe not...😉

I've been watching this post for awhile and felt the need to add my two cents.

I come from an abusive father and a clinically depressed mother. I basically raised myself. What I went through pales in comparison to your experience. I'm not going to be disrespectful and tell you to get over it, becuase that's simply not realistic. I'm glad you started this thread because it shows that you do want to deal with your issues and conquer your fears. For that, I commend you and if there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know.

I do have a feare of bondage myself. I have a fear that the person would gain my trust, then deceive me after the ropes go on. I fear that the person wouldn't respect safewords or give breaks. Maybe they are so into the ler experience, that they continue to tickle away without attending to my needs. I have an extreme personality and an overactive imagination, so things can get surreal with me quickly. I'm not sure why I feel the way I do-I'm not a very trusting person. I guess I've been burned one too many times by people who gained my trust then turned on me.

Let's get back to you shall we??
You don't have to resolve all of your issues in one day. Take your time and address each one at a time. Work it out together with your ladyfriend-it sounds like you both really care about each other and you trust her. Take all the time you need-it's a marathon, not a sprint! I wish you great success in conquering your fears and moving on with your life!😎 😎
