Hey, just wanted everyone at the TMF to know my family and I are alright. None of the house on the property where I live got trashed (which is amazing, considering all the tall pine trees around the area). Phone lines were down about twice as long as power was, though --which is why I was just able to get back online today (okay, I could've yesterday, but didn't feel like it since I had a bad migrane. lol)

My dad's house in Slidell survived, as well --somehow, it always juuuuust misses getting flooded. But his truck--which was parked at Methodist(the hospital in Metarie where he worked), is no good anymore, thanks to that nasty contaminated water. Oh well, water or no water, it probably woulda been trashed anyway...seems like most people in N.O. were trashing everything else (even the f*&king police and fire departments were looting!!)

But anyway, I'm fine, my family is fine...and I hope everyone else on the TMF who rode out the storm is fine, too.

so glad you came thru relatively unscathed, glad to have you back.

Yeah, but I sure as hell don't wanna go through THAT shit ever again. Oh well, at least Folsom is a good distance from N.O. , so we didnt have to put up with looters and other stuff .

The old concrete barn held up just fine...the only thing that got torn off it where piece of the tin roof...but only the pieces which were pretty loose, anyway.

But man, if you guys think New Orleans got hit bad, down in Empire..where most of the huge shrimp boats are...well, it's pretty much GONE. Some of my step-dad's friends rode out the storm on their boat and recorded it (which you guys might see some of, eventually, since they sold the rights to the tape to National Geographic), and the area after the hurricane. There's maybe only a few things still standing there...a small school (trashed, but standing), a small church, and a fiberglass house one of my step-dad's friends built. Glad I didn't live anywhere around there...

Hey man! Glad to hear you made it through it alright. Slowly, over the last few weeks, people would report in here from the wrecked areas, but never any word from the He-Man. I was truly getting worried.

Glad to hear you guys made it through okay! We've been concerned. If you need anything, drop a line. We're trying to help put the word out.

Ann

I knew someone was missing from my list!

I'm very happy to hear that you have weathered the storm and are at least okay. It'll be awhile before you've truly recovered, but you came through with your life and that's great!

He-man,Thank you so much for the update..I was really concerned about you ,I am ecstastic to hear you are safe! :twohugs:

I am SO relieved to see you post!! I was worried sick about you! Those first few days after the hurricane while we waited by to hear anything from either you or JoBelle was hell. When we finally got word that Joby was safe, it was a huge relief, but when we didn't hear anything from you in the weeks that followed, I began to fear the worst. Thank you so much for letting us know you're alright! I can breathe much easier now!

Actually, Kis, things are pretty much back to normal here in Folsom. Power just goes out every once in awhile, but that's only cause they gotta shut off the electricity when hooking another house back up to the power--but dealing with no power for about an hr or two hrs is alot better than dealing with it for almost a month(man am I ever glad we have two small generators and a small air conditioner).

Hmmm...don't know if we need anything here, Ann. At least my family was well prepared, unlike some of the others up the road (some of the neighbors' idea of being prepared for a level 5 hurricane was havin alot of cases of beer and a few bags of charcol for their grills. 🙄 )

Still can't believe nothing on the property was damaged, though. lol

LOL yeah I know (especially the "er..um.." part. lol)

...One of the idiots actually went into one of the other houses (most of the people on the street are family members...luckily they're from my step-dad's side, and not my mom or dad's sides of the family. lol) after the hurricane, crawling through it since most of it was crushed under a tree (luckily no one was in there), and guess what supplies he came out with. Beer.

Speakin of food, those MREs are actually pretty good (I love the snacks like the crackers and the cheese spread...yumm.)..but "pealable seal"? Yeah right...I don't think even a pitbull could tear open those packages . lol

Well, we were lucky here in Folsom...I think we're about an hr or two north(or a little bit northeast) of New Orleans, and there's some huge hills here. So there was very little chance of our property getting flooded (kind of hard for that to happen when you live on freakin huge hill). I woulda been alright, even if the trees had fallen and trashed the house, since the concrete barn we were in has been standing for at least 50 or more years . But my computer probably would've been totalled, though. lol

I'm surprised(and relieved) that JoBelle is alright, though. Doesn't she live on the coast of MS? I saw the damage in Gulfport and Waveland (man, I bet the wavepool there is trashed..)and I don't know how anyone could've survived THAT.
