I just went for an hour long walk through a dell near my house in bare feet, and at one point the path was *incredibly* stoney and it HURT LIKE HELL!!!!!! Plus here in the land of Haggis and Claymores, it gets quite chilly at night, so my feet were especially cold. Bleh.
My inspiration for this somewhat random act was that when i go for a walk, my dog just plods along on his paws, over any terain whatsoever, and I thought: "Right... This is Bullshit, if the dog can do it, I can do it!!" And although this turned out to be technically true, I must say that I didn't quite do it with Max's (my dog's) degree of dignity and composure.
Ach well. It was a test of endurance, if nothing else.

land of haggis and claymores..... have no clue what haggis is, but claymores... we talking about the kind of claymores the U.S. military uses as directional anti personel mines used in booby traps and such?

but sheesh, i mean ouch, rocky and all that, even when my feet weren't all that ticklish, walking on leaves was torture. i don't even go swimming without water socks or shoes on, just that sensitive i guess.

I bet Max can hardly wait to tell all his doggy friends about this tomorrow. ("You won't believe what my dude did last night...arf-arf-arf...and just because he saw me do it! AAARRF-arf-arf-arf! Tonight I'm going to sit down in front of him and lick my myself...just to see what he does!")

Bignorm - Haggis is a scottish meal made of a sheep's heart lungs and liver, traditionally cooked in its stomach casing. I know it sounds kinda gross, but its GORGEOUS, trust me. Claymores are traditional scottish swords, are very large, and were wielded in two hands during battle. I think they're what the mines are named after, but im not sure.
As for my feet, I do Tae Kwon Do training, so they're already used to getting a fair battering lol, but the rocks were still murder.

ignatz - Haha!! lol. I don't do yoga, so I'm not sure if i could bend that way heh, 😛

I spend almost all day on my feet and have developed a good layer of callus over the years. Even so, I can't stand too long a barefoot walk over rocky ground or gravel. The insteps and the recessed areas between the toes simply don't become as toughened, and rocks find ways of exploiting these weak spots. Perhaps the fact that dogs distribute their weight over four legs helps them in this regard. A bepedal dog (with its whole mass focused on two pressure points) might not fare any better than we do.

Mmm... I tried haggis.
I even tried a claymore.

As a trivial trivia: sometimes even broadswords are called claymores.
It means roughly "great sword", from a corrupted gaelic word I won't even try to type right now.

You should have mentioned kilts and sporrans, too, Dude... 😉
That would have really shocked Norm's socks off.

i'm a fan of food of the strange and wierd, so it sounds like a real treat. not to mention it's supper time and i'm starving.

if i wanted to vacation to anywhere in Europe, i'd definitely pic Scotland. such a beautiful place from what i hear. would beat all the palm and pine trees here in Florida.

lol well i try to vary it. In another thread i said 'in the land of Kilts and Bagpipes.' Or, if i'm in a bragging mood, I might say 'Here in ye olde birthplace of TV and telephones...' or 'here, in the country that the romans couldn't conquer...'
lol i know the last one has a lot of factors involved, and was so long ago to be irrelevant, but essentially, its still true 😛 hehe.

the country that the romans couldn't conquer...'

We didn't want it anyway. 😛

😉 😉 😉

[Funny fact, I am not even from Rome... 😀 ]
