I thought I start up this thread for the football fans, there is a few of us. The World Cup is over for another four years but the European leagues start going into serious training very soon so I thought start a thread were matches, transfers etc can be discussed.

I hope this thread will go through the season lol, anyway.......

Sadly i support Juventus... and i'm ashamed of all these bad things happening around my team... by watching this world cup u can see how juventus players were great (just think about Buffon, Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Thuram and Vieira for example) and we didn't have any reason to do tricks to win... so we deserve to be sent to second division now and i hope we will be great again soon...

and u? which team do u support?

I am a Bayern Munich fan, it was good to see all the Bayern players have good World Cups.

When the match fixing story first came out I couldnt believe Juventus was involved; just look at the players you listed and how they performed, I wouldnt be suprised if you win the Champions League this season even from second division.

Kust

Oh we won't play Champions League if we are sent to second division... and all our players will transfer to other teams because they don't want to play in second division... maybe only Del Piero and Nedved will remain...

You sure about not playing Champions?

You probably find if any players do go it will be on a 'loan' contract, Bayern did that with Lahm.

Truth be told I hope Milan go down.

Kust

Yes i'm sure... because we lose two championship and put at the last standing in the past championship... so we automatically go down to second division (with penalities too).

I think Milan will remain in first division, cause the phone conversations weren't as compromissory as ours...

Hmm Milan always seems to get out of trouble. But I wouldn't be suprised if they make a point and relegate the teams involved.

Well, I'm a Manchester United supporter, and I think we have a shot at taking the league from chelsea. I am saddened to see that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Man U for spain... Traitor.

I hope to see United make some deals, and mount a challenge to chelsea and liverpool. Don't think we have to worry about arsenal this season...

I must say, I LOVE the new Manchester United Home Kits...

From what I have heard Man Utd aren't going to sell Ronaldo; but the fact he wanted to leave wont help build team chemistry. I think Arsenal got old and the problem with Chelsea is that there is only one ball on the field.

I think the punishments are fair, if you cheat and fix matches you have to pay the penalty, I don't why there bothering to complain because if they hadn't have cheated in the first place there would be no problems.

Well i'm a Dundee United fan and although we''ve no chance of winning the league i'm optimisitic we''ll be improved on last seasons shambles.

And gremio i have to say the Man U kit would be a class top if it didn't have such a crap sponsor logo it looks too big and a bit cheap(although they are getting mega bucks for that sponsorship deal)

Again my team Munich are living with there heads up there ass, with the trouble in Italy and the players available for sale I would think being the richest club in Europe that they would actually spend some money to get a team that could challenge the likes of Chelsea and Barca in the Champions league...............but no they let the players go to Real and such and all I am going to year at the end of the season from the club is that they need to buy a couple of top players to challenge the big teams, but why not now?

I think I might go for 1860 Munich now...

Well, United signed Michael Carrick, and I really feel that he can fill the void left by Keane. I hope to see United make at least one more signing, so that we can truly put some pressure on Chelsea.

I honestly think Man Utd will be up there, still I dont think any team can touch Chelsea but second place isn't out of the question.

Kust

Yea i agree Man U will definatly be up there with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Can't wait for the start of premiership, i've missed it.

It'll make better viewing than Dundee United, outclassed by Falkirk of all teams and now we have Rangers at Ibrox tomorrow i sense a big defeat....

If Liverpool could ever find a consistent and dominating striker they could have a real shot.

Bellemy might be that person, him with crouch or luis garcia could be quite a strikeforce.

I def think the pool' will do well this season. And Steven Gerrard may very well be the top midfielder in the world.

I dont know about him being the best...........but I will say he is in the top 10.

FC Bayern kicked off the season with a nice 2-0 win........I know the English starts off soon and so does the Italian but I cant wait for is Champions league football - thats where teams can make or break a season.

Enough pre-season matches, on to the real deal! It was good to see Bayern play well yesterday.

Predicted Winners:

England - Arsenal
Germany - Bayern
Italy - Inter
Spain - Barcelona

Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 in the community shield game yestrerday, Chelsea didn't look very sharp and ballack's injury will be a blow. Liverpool played well though. They look to have a strong squad and could make a decent challenge in the league this season.

I must admit I didn't watch the whole match between Liverpool and Chelsea but what I saw was 1 team with Liverpool and 11 individuals in Chelsea and if they continue to play like that this season; doesn't matter where they will get burnt.

I wish soccer was more popular here in the USA. I would love to follow the Metrostars but its near impossible! :xlime:

It surprises me why it isn't... theres so many people playing the sport over there and the womans game is pretty big there, I guess its just because the league isnt that strong when compared to others.

It's alot more popular here than people give it credit for. The problem is, the American Pro League "MLS"... First off, there isn't enough advertising, marketing ect... They will need to sign big name players as well... There are rumours that both Ronaldo and David Beckham may finish their careers here in the States, and I think that would be a HUGE boost for MLS. MLS should also consider the relegation system, and use all the teams from the USL (United Soccer League)

Another thing, I will never, EVER follow the league, until they change the playoff format. Soccer is NOT American Football. If a team win the majority of the games throughout the season, and has more points than every other team, they should win the ultimate prize. Instead, we have it set up like the NFL playoffs, where a team can dominate all season, then get knocked out in the first round and have nothing to show for it. Stupid.
