Scotland beat France on saturday 1-0 C'mon! Amazing considering we were completly written off as having no chance whatsoever in this group

Yeah I know, I couldn't believe the France result. That group could result in a 'major' side not making it, Italy's recent performances haven't been that convincing and obviously same a France.

I think Germany is in a great position to actually win Euro, being so early I would like to see how they perform against the Czechs and the Slovaks.

Back to the club side of things in Europe I was so suprised to see how Bayern dominated Inter who was a heavy favourite at the start, I cant see to many surprises reaching the last 16.

4-1 against Slovakia is a really nice result, Poland beating Portugal came as a real shock.

I'm not overly surprised the way things are in international football, europe especially, is that there aren't really any easy games anymore, everyone really can beat everyone these days

More analysis of the big four by DA - an Arsenal fan.

Chelsea - forget the challenges, forget the red cards. Everyone seems to be forgetting one important point that happened at the medejksi stadium. Chelsea won by an own goal. They didn't score. work was done for them against a team that they should have slaughtered. but that brings us on to the challenges, Cudicini's challenge is a footballing accident. Cech's challenge compared with ben thatcher. enough said i think there. Still keeping the pressure on Utd but this year is the year that Chelsea lose their grip on the premiership i think.

Liverpool - Come on Rafa Benitez. Liverpool are a class act and can play like it. where was all this class at Anfield on Saturday? it needed Bellamy to pull them out of a ridiculous tight spot that they should never have been in. They were unlucky to not win it but they're 8 points off the pace now. hopefully they'll recover and stay involved in a title race that will be the best we've seen for a while.

Man Utd - All i've heard about this game is Wayne Rooney's return to form. ??? really? return to form? Man of the Match? give me a break. the main men on the pitch were Saha and Solsjkaer. Easily. Rooney showed me glimpses of the player he is but he's not at his terrorising best yet. before the united fans kick off, yeah he played well but he wasn't the best on the pitch. The united performance in the second half, is the United i want Arsenal to play come their visit to the Emirates Stadium. the resultant match will be electric. They were incredible, and destroyed Wigan who were resistant for the first half. Credit to United. still top of the prem.

Arsenal - 3 - 0 at home against Watford. what more could you ask for? Maybe a little more of Theo Walcott if you please Arsene!! a match dominated by the best player in the world and the kid who will take his place as the talisman of the Arsenal side. out played Watford from the get go and fully deserved the three points. portsmouth (and possibly bolton by the end of today) may be ahead of them in the league, but i think Chelsea and Utd are more worried about the fact that we're hitting a serious vein of form and creeping up behind them in the table.

Liverpool are out the race already i think, once again there inconsistency in the league is there downfall. Its a real pity as well as they have a very strong squad. top 3 challenge this year i think.
Bolton have started strongly this year and Villa are a team to watch as well O'Neill has done well to turn things round there will be interestin to see what he does in the transfer market in January.
As for the Hammers i hope things turn around for us soon, we have the players to be up there challengin for a Uefa cup spot again...just need a bit of luck to get us goin.

Bayern keep on rolling..............Schweinsteiger jus keeps on hitting em from distance.

Kust

This is the year that Utd show the world they're still a great team and haven't disappeared as soon as someone else comes along with a good squad.

anyone here stateside (NY preferably) know if this weekends Man U v. Liverpool is in regular tv?

Can't believe how easily Man United beat Liverpool on saturday, was a solid performance and confirmed what i said in an earlier thread about Liverpools title challenge being over. Disappointed to see West Ham lose again on Sunday, and not score, again! worrying times...

i think i'll do this after every permiership weekend

Well here i am again offering my analysis of the big 4 premiership teams. should anyone else have a premiership team they wish me to include, just let me know.

Chelsea - To be honest i was glad shevchenko scored, however i cant say it was the most convincing chelsea performance. they were in good form though they let in another goal. the defence doesn't seem as miserly as it was last season, although they are still the best in shutting up shop and not allowing anything to penetrate. They'll miss Petr Cech (and i rescind my comment about the challenge being like that of Ben Thatcher, after seeing it again it was a genuine football accident) but Hilario does seem up to the task. Confidence got a massive boost by beating Barcelona in the champions league and it should continue to spur them on. Although they need to tie Frank Lampard down quick before he disappears off to spain.

Man Utd - disintegrated Liverpool. there's no other word for it. Well played Paul Scholes. Credit given where credit is due and fair play to him, he realises its just another game where 3 points is the aim. Rooney looked good too i thought as did Darren Fletcher who was the ultimate in no - nonsense football, that's exactly what they needed and well done to him. United are still a class act and showed exactly why they can play (arguably) the best football in the premiership. Ferguson outclassed Benitez who really should realise to achieve consistency you need to let the team gel together by playing the same line up.

Liverpool - *sighs* well im sorry Rafa Benitez but you only have yourself to blame. tinkering for the 97th game running????? What are you thinking? Whatever you said to the team before the game and at half time didnt work because united outplayed and outclassed them. Even Stevie Gerrard could drag them from mediocrity. So unfortunately the team that a lot of people had down as the main challengers to Chelsea, are, at the moment, no longer a figure in the title race.

Arsenal - where Man Utd achieved a draw and Chelsea scraped a win, the Gunners simply blasted Reading off the pitch. To the neutral fan it was the ultimate demonstration of passing and moving. To an Arsenal fan it was simple beautiful. Francesc Fabregas showed why he'll be the greatest midfielder in the world in a few yrs. Henry showed why he's the best in the world now and Arsene Wenger showed us all that it is definitely a three horse race for the title. Welcome to the title race Arsenal. Welcome to reality Reading.

Finally a win from West Ham on Saturday, was a good game but i'm just glad the run is over 🙂

Now that Rooney is back on track, I think we will keep on rolling.

What a weekend the Hammers beating Arsenal 1-0, United beating Rangers 2-1 for there first home win of the season. And even better, Chelsea get beat 2-1 Its so good :veryhappy

Analysis of the week from DA

Man Utd - Well they just keep rolling dont they! obliterating all that get in their way. another spirited performance which can prove decisive in this part of the season. Ronaldo's free kick was enough to win any game such was the quality of it. however it is still early but the red devils continue to lead the pack for the title.

Liverpool - After the hiding they got from united Liverpool have finally worked out that results at the beginning of the season are just as important as results at the end. Dirk Kuyt proving himself an impressive signing. This may just be the beginning of Liverpool's season now but results would have to go their way.

Arsenal - Defeat to West Ham capped off an abysmal week to be an Arsenal fan. Everton was bad, CSKA moscow was pathetic but against West Ham, yet again. (no offence to united but we are) the best attacking footballing side in the premiership would've scored more goals had emile heskey been in the strikers position. its a ridiculous defeat which gives chelsea and esp United the luxury of drawing numerous games before worrying about us. Wenger needs to read the riot act.

Chelsea - Again another defeat that was a very strange one. Chelsea again should've swept all before them, but it seems only united are capable of it. Mourinho is feeling the strain. i think we all know it now.

so after another footballing weekend. it is definitely safe to say Advantage Man Utd

Any inside info on were Beckham might end up?????? I heard a small rumour Bayern might blow dust off their check book and have a go getting him.

The way UTD finished off last season I said they would be hard to beat this season and they are proving me right. TO BAD CHEALSKI..........

Kust

Rumors are that Celtic want him, but i seriously doubt he'll go there...

On a side note, is anyone else sick of Chelsea moaning about referee's or decisions when they get beat or occaisonally when they win? Its so annoying...

Weekends Premiership recap

Chelsea - Didier Drogba. there's no other words necessary. Played like a man possessed this weekend. deserved the Hat-trick and chelsea continue to keep up the pressure on Utd with their big confrontation on the horizon.

Man Utd - Wayne Rooney seemed determined to keep the ball out of the net this weekend so it was left to Louis Saha to knock the ball in grab all 3 points in an encounter that united would have strolled had Rooney got his accuracy boots on. must be looking forward to the match against chelsea. i'm definitely looking forward to it as a neutral.

Liverpool - let their confidence drop, and once that happens against any of the top teams you're in trouble. unfortunately i think that the reds are out of the title race now. 1 point out of 18 available away from home so far. its not the look of a title chasing side. The defending for Gallas's headed goal was atrocious. you don't even see that in an under 11's match. Rafa Benitez here's a tip. Steven Gerrard -> middle of the pitch

Arsenal - defeated Liverpool in a match that had either of them lost would have knocked them out of the title race. need to achieve consistency. Even as an Arsenal fan. Van Persie should have been off the pitch for the blatant handball and to look like he didnt know what the ref was talking about. the shame. two well worked Arsenal goals and a free header from Gallas gave us a victory to end the goal drought we'd gone through. Newcastle this weekend, should be a great game.

Oh and Cave in, i definitely agree that Chelsea need to stop throwing their toys out of the pram.

Can't beleive Celtic beat Man United Last night, was really disappointed with Man U, they totally dominated the first half but done very little with it, Celtic weren't even in the game until about an hour into the game. I will say they Freekick that led to the goal was never a free kick, hardly even touched Nakamura. But on the flipside it was never a penalty either.

i feel bad for Louis Saha. everything was against him and he must feel bad now. United fans must be a bit nervy again. A result against Benfica needed to progress. some serious deja vu kicking in here!

Arsenal were poor last night though. until theo walcott came on. woeful finishing against the worst team in the champs league. a result needed against porto to go through with no TH14. hmmm. i think its safe to say if Theo Walcott doesn't start. we aren't going through.

Bayern dont seem to be trying now, they look to be waiting for the next round. My boy Deisler is back and Gorlitz isnt to far behind - they will be hard to beat in the Champions league.

I'm back, and yes, I've "swapped shirts". Long, long story.

I predict Man U will win the league still, with Chelsea 2nd and Liverpool 3rd.

Yeah Man U are playing really well and they keep on maintaining their point advantage over Chelsea.

Watched there FA Cup game against Villa on Sunday, not the most convincing but getting Larsson on loan was a good bit of buisness. I don't see Chelsea winning the league this season...
