I was thinking about the situation with Lebron James leaving Miami to return to the Cavs. The whole "Going home" thing has happened many times before. A lot of these instances I'm going to post happened in baseball, because that is the sport I follow most closely, but I know it's happened in other sports as well.

Pete Rose: Whatever one's thoughts are about him. Left the Reds via free agency, and won a World Championship in Philly in 1980. Then, played with the Expos, before going back to the Reds, to not only play, but manage, before his ban from baseball for life.

Tom Glavine. Everyone who has seen my posts knows how personally I took this one. Glavine leaves Atlanta in the winter of 2002 after a decade of division titles, and a World Championship there, to accept a big free agent contract with the then last place NY Mets, After five years in NY, Glavine returns to Atlanta for his final season, and, even though he ended up on the DL at the end of his career, Glavine pitched his final major league game in a Braves uniform.

Phil Niekro. Was released by Braves owner Ted Turner in 1983, after pitching there for 20 years. . Went to the NY Yankees, the Indians, and Toronto, before pitching his final game for the Braves in 1987.

Tom Seaver. Traded away by Mets GM M Donald Grant in the infamous "Midnight Massacre: in June 1977. Spent five plus years with the Reds, before returning to the Mets in a trade., Intended to finish his career as a Met, before he was left unprotected in the winter of 1984, and was selected by the White Sox.

Four instances.. off the top of my head.. where major sports stars had success in other cities, and then went back to cities where they started their careers.

On the subject of Lebron: Do I think he made the right decision to return to the Cavs? I honestly don't know. Some people claim that the Heat ownership were going to shake the team up after losing in the finals. I've read stories that the draft pick the Cavs got, combined with Lebron returning there, makes them a contender immediately.

Only time will tell.,

I honestly didn't he's go back ever.

They're automatically the Favorites to win the Title next year. at 4-1, along with the Defending Champion Spurs. Miami is at 100-1.

This hasn't been a bad year so far for Cleveland Sports.

The Browns Drafted Johnny Manziel, and LeBron's going back to Cleveland.

The Reactions seem to indicate that Cleveland has Forgiven him.

Cedar Point has Forgiven him lol: http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/features/2014/07/11/cedar-point-roller-coaster-lebron-james-king-james/12536395/

Bosh just re signed with the Heat. Wow. I thought the moment I heard about Lebron that Bosh would be in Houston by day's end. Money talks I guess. 5 years 118 Million for Bosh and he s going to get the touches he used to get in TOR

With all the venom I spewed yesterday about the decisions, I have to give credit to LeBron about wanting to go home. Growing up and realizing that you need to go home and make things right. Getting things right with the Cleveland owner, AND NOT making it a big spectacle, not unlike his "taking my talents to south beach" hype.

Dan Le Bartard even said he did things so right this time with just the letter and going home.

I never allow myself heroes any more as they will always leave you for a bigger team, when I was a kid, Ian Wright was my hero, then he buggered off to Arsenal!

You get over it (eventually!)

Yeah Bosh re signed with the Heat. Personally, I think if he wanted to go for another ring, he should have signed with the Rockets. In my personal opinion, he was the weakest of the big three in Miami. I think he will get the touches in Miami, but I don't think he is creative enough to score without James feeding him the ball.

Absolutely agree

Plus, the rockets just lost Chander Parsons. So Bosh would have been a much better fit.

With that contract he just got, he should be putting 20 and 10 every night to live up to the money. Very unlikely that will happen if you ask me.

A Big thing with Fans, and I'm guilty of this myself, is that they get too attached to a Player.

At the end of the day, Professional Sports are a Business. And sometimes, Tough Business Decisions have to be made.

Whether it's by a Player, or by a Coach.

I don't know how Cleveland is favorited to win the NBA finals. They won't make the playoffs next year, and LeBron will opt out when he realizes he hates losing and will want to come back to Miami. Cleveland fans will be burning his jersey again. The Heat however are going after Greg Monroe and Eric Bledsoe, if they get one they will go far in the East, they get both I wouldn't be surprised to see them back in the finals and laughing at LeBron.

The East is so weak they will probably make the playoffs IMO...but no way are they gonna win the finals

This. It's funny that one player leaving one team and going to another has completely turned an entire conference on its head. Now, with the acquisition of Love, the Cavs are first/second seed contenders, while Miami is left to fight it out with the 6 scrub teams that will no doubt be in contention, a couple with under-.500 records no doubt. I don't know about you guys, but when I hear 'eastern conference' I get the overwhelming aroma of cupcakes! How odd.

Right you are, Brock and Park!!! The Cavs will be good...the East is weak...and I really don't care (and hope they fall short).....BUT.....

Where is David Stern when you need him?? Why does it seem that Adam Silver is "letting" LeBron "run the league"??!! And now they'll get Love...just about to sign Shawn Marion (to a "minimum" contract)...will probably end up with Ray Allen...and who knows what else??

I bring this up (being a "West Coaster") because...remember a few years ago, when the Lakers were "all set" to trade for Chris Paul...and David Stern ended up blocking the trade??!! That was the beginning of "the end" for the Lakers (just look at how bad they are, now) I don't know...but it sure seems like the "Commissioner's Office" is trying to "shift" some "league balance" back to the East!!! (no offense to Eastern fans)...but it looks like "East Coast Bias" to me!!!

Anyway...just my two cents!!!

: Maybe I'm bias as a Laker fan but, that trade block seemed awfully shady to me. I remember I was sitting there in shock like, is this real? I felt like a was watching a conspiracy film. Anyway why would anybody be mad Bron left? The heat are a expansion team from the 80s. I'm calling bs on a lot of die hard heat fans. :bsflag:
