for those who think "Gangsta" is cool

People.I'm sorry to say this ,but in my opinion It's all a lost cause.Meaning that every living person in this day and age are going to do whatever it is they want to do ,no matter the consequencess.Nothing to do with the music you listen to ,your ethnic background,or being a Fatherless child. We all have our own sense of right and wrong. We know how horrible and wrong that child's death is, but there are others who just don't give a damn, they say life goes on.Then tomorrow there will be some other tragic event to talk about. Its an ongoing part of life as we see it today.Sorry to be so negative, not usually like this just being reallistic on my part.

Yes, I agree Rap artists are not great role models. Then again when have musical artists ever been great role models. Jim morrison, a violent drunk, that once threatened killing everybody in the room with ax. Johnny Cash, a reborn Christian that spent time in prison, and once sang "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" Yes, far from great role models. Come to think of it artists in general have not been great role models. Rimbaud, Van Gogh, Edgar allan Poe, Amadeus, all lived some pretty seedy lives

I think Prime made an excellent point about Surburban White Kids that listen to rap music. You don't see them commiting the same type of crimes. Of course for most of these kids it is temporary state of rebellion for their teens and early twenties. After that they can go back to be nice bland white middle class boys that vote Republican. What do their black counterparts go back to?

I think the subject of role models is a good point. Not that rap stars are bad role models, but the fact that along with sports stars they are the only role models for a lot of these youth. Could you imagine if the only role models in the white community were Marilyn Manson, Ty Cobb, and hockey players that routinely fight on the ice? Where would we be?

warning: I'm on a ranting spree.

I don't give a flying f**k what anyone says. "Gangsta" = "jackass". There's a reason it's called "underwear"...it's supposed to be UNDER what you WEAR. No one gives a s**t what color your "draws" are. You look like an idiot, especially in the summer time, with your hat on sideways and tilted, the waist of your jeans around your knees, and the shirt that looks like it belongs on Chewbacca. What pisses me off even more is the fact that most of the time, there's a belt on the damned jeans...USE IT!

There's nothing honorable or admirable to using a weapon to solve your problems. I can understand if you keep a weapon nearby for self protection, mostly because of all the a**holes out there who feel the need to be "gangsta", but how dare you use it against someone else in a malicious manner? Who the hell gave you the right? And why do you feel the need to parade around looking like such a slob?

Get a job, earn a living, and stop stealing it from others.

Bling bling that, motha fu**a.

I must admit I jumped in late here but anyway this is what i think -

Inreference to the original post as being 2pac's fault to shooting?? For every 'gangsta' song pac released jus say 'hit 'em up' there are at least two others that promote the opposite 'changes' and 'so many tears' to name just two, im not talking bout every song he has ever released rather the popular ones. So his part in the shooting is lil to none.

To the statements regarding lack of role models in general, I simply put this on the media (not knowing if any one brought this up soz, if some one has) I will use an example of a well known sports star, Charles Woodson of Oakland Raiders. Every one heard of what happened last year with him (It was even in the news in sydney) being drunk in public and refusing to leave the womens car - now fair enough nothing for anyone to look up to but the media plastered it everywhere, now the same player has been putting time, effort and money into numerous charities around Oakland and Michigan. One example is his annual golf day rasing money, but no one hears bout this. Same can be said bout Randy Moss and numerous other players and celebs but the media slams them every time they step out.

Also the fact they ignore the un-sung hereos everyday making a difference doesnt help this situation for any race by any means.

I was out of this for a while. Damn I missed too much to come back, but hey, that's alright. It looks like the thread went south anyway.

The original argument was about gangsta rap music, and that point has degraded to discussions about rap stars being role models, and gangsta fashion being stupid. LOL

Somebody let me know if this thread ever gets back on point, and I'll come runnin.

Well, now that you're back in, make it happen! :wavingguy

Anyway, I'm out of here - I just got my head shaved (it's so much cooler for the summer), so I'm off to get some Dr. Martins and some suspenders.... I mean, braces. I've been so out of the loop. But I DO have my Skrewdriver cranked to "White Minority" & I think the Bully Boys are playing The Gypsy Tea Room this weekend, so I'm ready for skankin' in the mosh. Better gets to polishing up my golf clubs. Hell, anything goes down, I'll blame mom and my neighbors.

CONFEDERATE HAMMERSKINS NEVER DIE! OI OI OI !!!

``I can't front. I don't have a lot of respect for 50 Cent because his music is hardcore ... violent,'' said Lil' Kim. ``And I love his music sometimes, but I feel like in his personal life, his real life, he carries that on, and that's not a great message, you know what I mean? I think he promotes it.''

When asked about the beef between the two, she said: ``How can a man have beef with a woman? Whatever, that's just not cool,'' she said.

``If I was selling six, seven million records, I'm not mad at anyone! How can you still be angry at people, still want to come at people? You're making money, you're selling millions of records, you should do something with that leverage,'' she added.

Lil' Kim knows plenty about rap feuds - it's one of the reasons why she's incarcerated. The rapper convicted of lying to a grand jury investigating a 2001 shootout involving members of her entourage and a clique loyal to her nemesis, rapper Foxy Brown.
