This one dates back at least to the 1940's. Any idea who wrote it?

sorry i dont know who wrote it...someone just sent it to me and i thought it was odd enuf to be funny.
 
This song is Copyright 1947 by Moe Jaffe and Dwight Latham, and based on a Mark Twain anecdote.

Thanks. My grandfather used to quote from it (one branch of the family had a somewhat analogous situation). He could have gotten it from either source, but I'm betting on Mark Twain in his case.
