Gas Prices

I am just curious as to what the gas prices are like in other areas.

I live in Northeast Washington State. On July 4th... I put gas in my car to the tune of $3.08. Today the price was $3.15. That is a $.07 increase in 9 days.

There are rumors that it is going to go higher.

By summer's end

I expect it to be $4+ everywhere in this country.
But, in the Pittsburgh area, including the nearby part of Ohio, there's a supermarket chain called Giant Eagle; for every $50 you spend on anything at thier stores they give you 10 cents per gallon off on your next fillup of gas; you could end up getting a fillup for free if you let the credits accumulate enough.

Just a thought.

This recent stuff in the Middle East will definitly be felt at the pump soon

Floating between 3.05 and 3.10 depending on the station and how close they are to the freeway.

I put in 16 gallons of gas the other day and it cost me $50.00...16 gallons...

I know I am starting feel the pinch of having to pay these gas prices and I do alright, I can't imagine what it is like for lower income families and people.

3.09 here in dekalb illinois.....and we're apparently the home of fuckin corn fuel to keep prices down:::spits:::

its about 10-20 cents higher in chicago but also fuckin illinois has god damned taxes on fuel which does raise it about 20 cents what it should be....

I was shocked when I went to fill up my gas tank the last time. It was almost completely empty, and I used the regular unleaded. For my $10.00 ,I got less than half a tank, and I drive a Nissan Sentra. People with larger gas tanks will be broke soon. I am really starting to plan my trips in my car so that I do more than one errand at the same time to cut down on mileage.

I'm really pissed at myself! Instead of going to Giant Eagle, I went to Tops instead and ended up spending 91 bucks for food. I was only going to buy a couple of things, but bought the weeks groceries since the weather was bad! I could've gotten another .20 off my gas.

And BTW, gas is 2.99 in my area.

You may have heard these before, but here are a few tips that can get you up to 25% better gas milage and save you money:

• Make sure your tires are inflated to the proper pressure. Check them when they are cold for a proper reading.
• Get the junk out of your trunk. Don't haul around anything more than you need to.
• Accelerate gently and smoothly. Pretend there is an egg between your foot and the accelerator pedal.
• Anticipate stops and take your foot off the accelerator well in advance of your stops.
• Try to keep a very smooth steady speed. Your cruise control can help.
• Stay at or below the speed limit on the freeway. Gas milage drops really quickly above 55mph.
