What is the secret to get models to actually show to the shoot? They'll respond to my ad, they'll write me back and forth several times and get all the details, they'll give me their phone number and we may or may not talk on the phone, they'll set the appointment with me, and then finally, they'll blow me off. It's like 64% of the time they're coming down with illnesses! Do I have to tell them that a famous talent scout is going to be at the shoot to get them to show? LOL!

No, just make sure the money is of a sufficient sum to be REALLY tempting.

And you'll still have no-shows.

This all the way. Plus what the models are doing is really unprofessional, but then again were they real models that actually go out and model? Where are you placing said ads?

Unfortunately the only "Professionalism" you will have any control over is your own. And, if you refine your own professionalism to a high standard, and are consistent with how you present yourself and your company; the routine in which you deal with Models; and how you handle situations; it all goes a far way as a plus that the model community will pick up on and word will spread that you act like a "Pro"... which is far better than a wildfire spreading that you are a gutter turd. Once, you are established as credible and professional, hopefully you will attract a better grade of model... at least, perhaps, more reliable. Dealing with models is dealing with people... leave some wiggle room in your expectations for them to be fallible humans.

On the mechanical side, one of the routines we use with potential (free-agent) models is to pre-interview a model with a pleasant/non-confrontational luncheon at a neutral location; this is between the initial phone contact and the actual working audition. It allows both sides to see if there is a fit. Do not seek commitment in this meeting, just have a light conversation and enjoy the hour or so. ...and Pick up the tab, Mr. Producer. 😉

It seems to come with the territory. When posting my ads on Craigslist, I never had a problem, but the notorious no shows started happening after that jerk medical student killed a masseuse in Boston, and Craigslist had to do away with the adult section that I had to post on Backpage. A third of the models will flake out, even for the meeting at a coffee shop to talk before hand.
Even with the cell phones, they won't answer when you try to call, only to sometimes drop an e-mail afterwards with a phony excuse. One I've heard three times from different so called models is an old friend suddenly came to town unannounced, and they had to drive out to the airport to pick them up. I can even call out one here in Seattle called Jade who stood me up twice, but still kept responding to my ad repeatedly.
One problem may be from the population growth in some areas. Out here we've had a somewhat Asian Invasion happening. The women who use to work as sensual masseuses for decades around here have suddenly been getting severe competition from young asian women flooding the advertising as a means of easy money. I've known two women who have been hurt seriously financially from this flood. Not that long ago, one had to go to a massage parlor to enjoy these experiences, some started to become independent agents, but a few years ago, that all changed. One is still working but at the level of poverty now, while another I know fell into alcoholism and started having serious problems. She disappeared a year ago, and I don't know if she is still even alive.
The ever fluctuating marketplace isn't as stable as it had once been, and I believe the problem isn't going to resolve itself soon.

To touch on something C.A.B. mentioned, there is also the advantage of having models who come back multiple times, refer friends, or are even up to using them as references as well. Should I ever get back into it, I have models I can call and see if their interested in dropping by for some laughs. My favorite one unfortunately has moved to Sacramento to be closer to the bondage scene there, but there are still the others who love it all and can't get enough.
Forget about posting in the personal section here though. Never a nibble, but outside local sources can produce a regular horn of plenty.

FetLife is a great site if you want to work with fetish models. It has a ton of groups for models and photographers/producers to post ads/casting calls. I also use Model Mayhem, but I've always had more luck on FetLife since fetish modeling is what I mainly like to do.

I have a question here. More of a curiosity, actually. What kind of money do models expect (or are you planning to pay), for a typical shoot. I'm not planning to start making videos or anything. Just curious. (Maybe it's something you're not willing to disclose. I can respect that if the info is off limits.)

Most models never like to discuss their own personal rates in public(Myself included). A lot of models are also willing to negotiate their rates(I do this as well). I will say from what I've personally noticed with fetish models it ranges from 50/hr-100/hr sometimes over 100 if the model is really popular or it is a custom clip. Producers/photographers on the other hand will normally post how much they are paying for their shoots.

Like anyone's income; discussing it 3rd party is bad form, old boy. But, the time-honored adage holds true, "One gets what one pays for." Or to paraphrase, "Ain't no Coup De Ville in a Cracker Jack box."
