I found the option when I was messing with all the fancy things we have to play with here and I liked it so much I decided to keep it! Mainly to drive you insane!

Well, I learned that when people see you online on the forum they expect you to get on msn/skype/yahoo/what have you. Since I am oftentimes on rather sporadically on the forum, I turned on invisibility mode as a matter of convenience.

That said, lately I've been thinking about turning the function off. However, while I don't mind people seeing I'm online, I do kind of dislike the thought that they can see exactly which thread I'm in, if I'm replying to a topic, which blog I'm reading, if I'm having a "private moment" 🙂D) in the artwork section, etc. I can be a rather private person, and don't much care for "feeling watched". It's unpleasant, quite frankly. I know that might seem irrational to some, but to me it makes perfect sense. 😛

Actually, that makes a lot of sense Carso... I understand that rationale, lol. I really don't think it's necessary that it shows who is doing what and where... the online signal should be enough, don't you think? Hmmm

Short of being pelted by cosmic rays, how does one turn invisible here? I seem to be the only one unaware of this.

If you just go into the "Edit Options" menu... you'll find that on the left hand side of your screen when you go to your Private Messages area.

Even the "tracing function" wouldn't have been a problem either if it weren't for the fact that I suffer from mild paranoia, which hasn't gotten better since people actually HAVE been stalking me with the help of online functions. You'll get wary when you constantly get barraged by text messages saying "I see you made a new status update on Facebook 2 minutes ago, why aren't you on msn/why haven't you replied to my last text yet if you have the time to write a status update?"

Y-y-you mean you also drop by the Art section? 😀

Okay... this may not be a popular topic, lol. But what the hell is up with all you folks in "Invisible" mode? Especially those of you who are so called "established" on this forum.

What have you got to hide? I realize its a personal preference and the function is there for a reason... but I would assume moreso for the ladies on this forum who tend to get harassed. More and more I see more guys, "high profilers" if you will, turning the green light off.... WTF???

Seriously... just a pet peeve of mine. For example, in the SSF someone will drop a bomb out of nowhere and we're like... huh? what? where did that come from? LMAO... I'm being tongue in cheek... but you get my drift. I just find it very strange.

Someone explain this phenomenon to me, please?

I tend to be distracted fairly easily. So, leaving myself on invisible mode tends to allow me fewer distractions...though I generally will take a break to respond if someone PMs me. 🙂

This. Even when I'm "here" I'm often elsewhere also, reading up on things of interest and in search of obscure historical facts to plague you all with.
