Damnit I wanted to post the Police Squad epilogues, lol. Awesome stuff.

R.I.P Leslie.

Sad...

...one of my all-time favorites.

RIP
Leslie

"I am serious, and don't call me Shirley."

A great Canadian icon for sure... he was one of the greats. He'll be missed :(

It was odd that I was thinking about him a few days ago.

Well, RIP.......he was a really funny actor and comedian.

I remember watching him as a kid on Disney (I think), playing a Revolutionary War-era guerilla figure named "The Fox" (again, I think - it was many years ago). I liked him because he reminded me a little of my father.

I watched him in some other serious roles after that and remained a fan. What I really loved, though, was when he was allowed to finally bring out his comedic side. I rented a laser disc of Forbidden Planet a few years after Airplane had come out and was fascinated by the surviving cast members' recollection of him as a wacky, prankster-ish guy, who could have/should have had a career in comedy. I especially loved his willingness to do just about anything for a laugh. My favorite example is the famous commercial with him wearing fuzzy pink slippers because "sometimes I just want to feel pretty."

I was on the verge of tears when I read about his passing. He left us a lot of material and a lot of memories, but I'm still going to miss him.

Bye, Les. Don't let' em call you Shirley.

Though I mentioned this in an unrelated post:

Back in the early 90s, Leslie drove by us in his golf cart at the Greater Hartford Open. I remember him with a big grin, wearing sunglasses and saying "beep, beep, beep" as he drove by.

Thank you for all the great laughs, sir.

^You were thinking of a Disney story based on the life of Francis Marion who fought the British in the swamps of South Carolina. GOOGLE: Swamp Fox.^
