A ten minute live version of Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson. It's about the craziest guitar solo I can think of.

Pretty much every song Dragonforce have ever made. Go go Herman Li and your 3 minute solos in the middle of every song! If that ain't epic I dunno what is.

These should do...

Tommy Bolin on Billy Cobham's Quadrant 4 (solo starts a little after 1:30 in)

Thin Lizzy- Warrior (Brian Robertson): Great at incorporating that wah-wah pedal- love this tune

Ritchie Blackmore on Deep Purple's Child in Time (begins around 3:30)

Judas Priest: Jawbreaker (K.K. Downing)

John Sykes with Thin Lizzy: Thunder & Lightning live (solo is around the 3 minute mark- studio version is better, but what can you do) Gives speed players a good name, if that were even possible.

Pink Floyd - Sorrow. Beginning and end. Brilliant. 'Nuff said.

You just don't beat Zappa when it comes to guitar style. Oh, and Vai is in this first one too.

I'm a huge fan of Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge, he's got a lot of kickass solos. The one at the end of "Blackbird" is particularly good.

The solo in Blackened by Metallica is pretty brutal, full of bullet-hard finger tapping, but for classic solos its gotta be Nowt Else Matters, if ever a solo perfectly summed up the feeling of a song its that solo!

The solo on S&M is particularly brilliant:

The middle section of Through the Fire and the Flames when both guitarists solo is just epic, and may I add, my fave to play on GH3

One of the most epic guitar solos is the one in the song "Soldiers Of Hell" by Running Wild, from the Album "Gates To Purgatory".

I can't believe no one's mentioned Sweet Child O' Mine yet; it's one of the greatest guitar solos in history...

Also pretty epic is one by a little-known British artist named Gary Hughes. The title track of his solo album "Once and Future King" ends with a two and a half minute emotional and epic solo, the player of which happens to be the guy who taught my sister to play guitar. It's awesome.

But my absolute favourite guitar solo comes from the song "A Succubus in Rapture" by Dimmu Borgir. I'm not sure what I like about it, really; I think it's that it's quite emotional and uplifting (for a black metal song, at least), and is fundamentally tuneful, not relying at all on furious and pointless shredding or speed. Other black metal bands - as well as 80s crap like Metallica - seem to believe that they can't play a guitar solo without showing off and getting unnecessarily fast. Apparently, they believe that if they don't do this - in every bloody song, no less - you'll forget how good they are. It's just boring.

Theres a cd set\torrent that is top 100 guitar solos and has 100 songs that have the best solo's of all

"Maggot Brain" Funkadelic. Eddie Hazel's 10 minute solo is breathtaking, Jeff Beck's "Freeway Jam" is awesome as well and anything for Stevie Ray Vaughn.
