MsDiva, as a mere novice poster I am not sure how you have managed to become so world weary and intolerant of my posts. My thread WAS intended to be amusing and provacative, and certainly DO NOT take anything back. The idea is that the post works on more than one level, sorry if that too hard for you to follow.

What ever you think of my posts or my opinions you will not find me indulging in cheap, direct, personal abuse. I suggest you hang around alittle longer get to know folks a bit better, and what kind of problems they have, and then you might know just how tasteless the use of the word "cretin" is when directed at me.

I dont mind folks having a go at me, or dissagreeing with me, but I just dont follow the logic of complaining about a "flaming" post and responding to it with playgound level abuse.

As you may have noticed (or more likely are choosing to ignore) a number of posters who know my style well (having been around a lot longer than you) got the joke, they saw the funny side of the post. Yes I am irritated by the very recent popularity of Halloween in the U.K. and I choose to vent my spleen in an entertaining way, exposing myself as a grumpy old killjoy in the "Victor Meldrew" stlye (ask your Brit fiance who he is) so I have got one or two themes running concurrently, a bit like walking and chewing gum at the same time.

First of all, Red, it is a God-given right handwritten by enlighted, creative minds to think and conduct ones actions freely 'on this side of the pond.' It's pretty cool that young Brits choose to emulate Americans during our more social holidays. Face it, Halloween is one of the coolest holidays. Especially when you've got a costume.
The fact that you're jumping on crap programming is probably NOT the fault of American television. Hey, I'll tell you first that American TV can be crap, but if the programming chosen by British networks offends you, you can always use your right as a citizen to make a change. Oh wait, can you do that in England? You can here.
Dude - relax, stay drunk and step out of the house once in a while. Being an American, I may not agree with what you say, but I respect your right to talk like an angry fool.

....I have been rather tardy in keeping up to date with this thread due to illness and puter problems.

Those of you who feel they are being tremendously clever and smug in giving me lessons in pagan history are surely proving my point. Halloween does indeed have its roots in ancient British history, my goodness, you really are very clever people. Who would have thought of putting the word "halloween" in to a computer search engine and blowing my argument out of the water?....makes me feel so very humble, apart from the fact that you have shot yourselfs in the foot.

This is an ancient pagan ceremony, and it has absolutely nothing to do with America, as you are all so desparate to tell me, which means, er, you agree with me.

Am I very clever or are you all a bit slow?
