Thank you, sam, ray, mils, and bug. The thoughts are appreciated, gentlemen.
Well, it has been a good birthday. I am sure that some of you have read about my situation with my father. I wasnt sure if he was going to acknowledge this birthday or not. In the past, even when we were estranged, he always would acknowledge the birthday with a card, and nice size check, for whatever reason. Both my mom and I felt dead ass sure this would be the year he wouldnt. Usually a Fedex package would come the morning of my birthday. Well, today in the morning, no Fedex package. In my regular mail, nothing. However, just before, when I entered my building, on my row of mailboxes, was a Fedex envelope. Inside was a little note that said :" Mitch, I know we've had our differences, Happy Birthday, Love, Dad." , with a nice size birthday check.
Needless to say, I was happy. The fact that he acknowledged it, and just didnt ignore me, is the big thing for me. Now, I plan to write him a thank you note for the gift, along with a letter, telling him that we have to deal with this, finally, after 37 years, to be able to move forward. I want to love my father, and wish that he wouldnt base his love for me, on how I treat his wife. Hell, I was his son, LONG before Cheryl was his wife, and yet, he seems to give me no consideration as such, emotionally, and from a father-son standpoint, even aside from money.
Anyhow, that's an update. Now, I can just relax, and chill. My dad has been on my mind a lot lately. After a few days to think about this, I will have to figure out what strategy to take, to move forward with him.
Thanks to everyone for all of your good wishes. I appreciate from the bottom of my heart, my friends.
All the best to you all,
Mitch
