Tomorrow is Mother's Day so Happy Mother's Day to all the TMF moms and to moms everywhere!


I managed to surprise my mom at work yesterday when I had 3 red roses delivered to her. It made her day. It was the least I could do for a woman who's done so much more for my brothers and me. God knows we turned her hair gray. 😛

Thanks to everyone for their mothers day wishes and I wish all the TMF moms a happy mothers day as well. But my mothers day hasn't been right since I lost my mom almost 15 years ago. It just feels like another day on the calendar to me.

But, I decided a quiet dinner at home with my kids is the best way for a broke mom to celebrate. I have much to be grateful for even though we won't do the traditional splurging that comes with the holiday.

Ladies, I hope you have a great time and are spoiled on our special day.

This is my second Mother's Day since losing my mom. To be honest, this isn't easy to do. I'm with you, it just doesn't feel right to me anymore. Of course I'm happy for those who still celebrate with their moms or who are moms themselves and will be celebrating that day with their kids.

Sure, I'm going to head to the cemetery tomorrow and visit but yeah, I'd like to still be able to take my mother out for lunch or dinner and not just on Mother's Day.....on any day.

Oh and one more thing. If you do have your mom in your life (or anyone that is special to you), please don't wait for a "certain day" to celebrate what they mean to you. You'll never know when they'll no longer be with you.

Beautifully written. I`m one of the lucky ones who`s mom is still with us (75 and in good health) but I have a heavy heart not only for Angel, but for all of you who have lost your mother. Its easy for me to say, but try to hang in there on Mothers Day and cherish the good times.🙂

I've had two other friends my age lose their mothers in this last year. I will hug my mom tighter. It never escapes me that although my mom is happy to share mother's day, she lost her mom a few years ago, and so this holiday is beautiful, but will always be bittersweet.

God bless those who've lost their moms. May we always remember the love that they've shown.

It might as well have happened yesterday......still just as fresh as it was 15 years ago. You never get over it Angel, you just learn to work your way through it and move forward.

And for those of you whose moms are still alive.......for most of you it is a gift to treasure as much as possible. I understand some of you might not have a close or even desired relationship with your moms, but if it's something that can be worked out, please work it out because one day she'll be gone and you may live with regret for the rest of your life. Don't put yourself through that.

And if you read this and are perhaps religious or even if you're not, please reserve a wee thought or prayer for the mother of one of my best friends Brian. He was killed in a motorcycle accident 2 days ago. I'm sure the day's holiday is amplifying her grief.
