Heard about this extreme act of animal cruelty

I got with a guy friend of mine last night that I had sent me a private message on here about a year ago. Well to make a long story short, we have been friends for a long time now.

We got together last night and after our fun, we were having dinner and he asked me if I heard about this dog that he had heard about on KYW1060 (news radio station for PA, N.J and Delaware for those who don't know) who was duct taped where it couldn't move and was tortured and killed. I REALLY HATE ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!! I think that is the most evil act of animal abuse I have ever heard. I looked up on Yahoo today and did a search on there for animal cruelty in N.J and found the article on it. The most disturbing things are that it's mouth had duct tape over it and it's tongue was cut out. That really makes me mad ! This happened in Cumberland County in New Jersey. It also said that if they find the person (s) responsible, they will get 18 months in prison, a $10,000 fine and counseling. I just want to ask this because I am curious. Do you think they cut the dog's tongue out first and then put the duct tape on or after they killed the dog they took the duct tape out and cut out the dog's tongue? Just want to know what people think. Either way, it was awful for the dog.

Just want to get people's thoughts on this here.

To hear about this made me sad, sick to my stomach, furious, and scared. A person who could torture an animal to death or just torture it isn't far from the edge and could become a sociopath then a serial or mass murderer.

I agree with you herotickle. I don't know how someone could do this to man's best friend. I know the saying "man's best friend" but a dog could also be a woman's best friend too. I also want to add that the article said the dog's mutilated body was discovered by a school bus driver who saw it on the side of a highway and he reported it. I mean whether this was committed by a person or a group they are evil and probably is a psycho in general .

I agree with what you said and the torturer or torturers SHOULD get longer than 18 months in prison but that's what the article said they'd get once they were caught. I so hope they're caught very very soon! The article said they should be able to get fingerprints on the duct tape and from that they should be able to figure out who did this horrible act and why.

That is seriously messed up. I don't understand animal cruelty either. My daughter has a doberman that has been shot by the neighbors 3 separate times (twice while fenced in my backyard) simply because they feel the dog looks menacing. Now given, this is a dog that can climb a 6 ft fence but just as sweet and stupid as anything. If you've ever seen a big, lanky dog and a five year old curl up together for a nap you can understand how heartbreaking it is to repeatedly take the poor thing to the vet to get pellets removed.
Your recounting of animal cruelty is far worse than mine, but in the end it doesn't make sense to me. It's said that cruelty to animals is one of the first signs of sociopathic behavior.

According to the article, a possible reason that someone could do this is that the dog could've ate a stash of drugs and someone was trying to get the drugs out of the dog but that's just a theory.

Yeah, some jackass here (CA) got 12 months for feeding a 3 week old puppy to his boa constrictor. I've a puppy of my own. I'd have happily put a bullet thru his head if he'd have set foot on my property. And gladly turned myself in afterwards.

I remember hearing about a pet shop owner doing a similar thing with a kitten and a python (the bastard, claiming it was euthanasia? I'd like to euthanize him with my .357!) It seems animal cruelty is almost like a disgusting fad now. Even though majority of the United States have it listed as a felony, very few people care, since it's usually a small sentence. I think animal cruelty should be more severe.

In the case of the jackasses with the snakes, I'd like to hang them by their balls.

That's a terrible story Stef! I think that someone who would feed a puppy to a boa constrictor is seriously messed up. What's the matter with some people? I mean they should've fed the boa constrictor something else, I am not sure what they eat but DEFINITELY something other than a puppy. That jackass should've received a lot more than 12 months! I don't blame you for having that attitude for wanting to kill someone (if you had to) to defend your puppy.

Anyone remember Jeffrey Dahmer? He started out with animals then "graduated" himself to innocent men whos heads he kept in the freezer. What a psychopath!

I personally believe that the punishment should fit the crime; if he cut out a dog's tongue, let's see how he'd like it if it happened to him. And I'd make sure he lived; death is too good for him!

I understand what you're saying Stef. Hope they catch the person or people who did this very very very soon so they get the punishment that's coming to them! I also do think they should pay the fine of $10,000 and get counseling.

You want to hear something funny? Researchers really did the same thing (except cutting the animals tongue out.) They would strap down an animal so they couldn't move and spray them in the eyes with stuff, force them to inhale or drink something. This act, and all acts of animal cruelty are just sick.

Anything to do with cruelty to animals infuriates me so much, to the point I feel sick and hot tears, usually through frustration as I would like to get my hands on people that do this and also to cuddle or give some comfort to the animal suffering.

That fine is a sodding laugh and the time in prison. Its fuckin atrocious, if that happened to any pets I had, I think I would physically harm the people that do this, when I'm not a violent person in any way. They are cowards to harm a defenceless animal who only wants a caring, loving home, the bastards.

To think anyone can do this to an defenseless animal is just inconceivable. That sub human deserves ALOT more than 18 months in prison. As far as I am concerned, he deserves the same treatment he would get if he murdered a human. I use the term murder because his act was clearly premeditated. He also shouldn't even be considered for parole, and the death penalty is too good for him. I own a dog, and if that ever happened to my dog, I think I would go on a witch hunt, and track the bastard down myself without getting the police involved.

Acts like this make me sick to my stomach. I recall one time when a group of teens went out on a lark and tourtered a dog to death. Those kids were arrested and PROTECTED by the police because they incurred the wrath of an entire town, and then some. Those punks had it better in jail because they wouldn't last a minute if they were out on the streets

Even though what this sick man (or woman) did such a brutal act...I don't find an animal's life anywhere close to a human's regaurdless of circumstance. But I do find such actions troubling as this can lead to an even worser outcome. As for a punishment...2 years at most and extensive psychological treatment.
