Call me a skeptic, but...if you approached young women, say, in one of the parks in my city, and asked them that question, they'd walk away. They might or might not call the police. If you did it in New York, you might or might not get a reaction at all. They'd ignore you, or look at each other with a wink.
But then, we don't live in the same city, do we? Or even the same country, for that matter. And New York isn't exactly famous for the courteous behavior of its population.
I doubt I'll ever try the direct approach again in the future. But the reactions I got from the people I did approach that way in the past weren't especially negative overall. No one walked away or ignored me, and I never felt they were about to call the police or anything. I don't even recall any rude reactions. Most declined after I explained the context, of course, but that's just normal. It's the same way with the more standard recruitment methods. A fair number were intrigued. While not necessarily interested in participating themselves, they asked for more details and were actually quite friendly. Still, most encounters were pretty short, and there clearly wasn't much potential there.
Of course, how you approach them counts for a lot. I can easily see how someone could come off as creepy right off the bat. But if you act in a calm, respectful, professional manner, there shouldn't be any problems. Having business cards helps too. The trick is to act like it's a project like any other. Unusual, not for everyone, sure, but otherwise it's just business. But if you act like you think it's something creepy and dirty and are looking for people who are ok with that, well of course the people you approach may be a little freaked out. Big mistake.
By the way, what would the police do if they got involved, anyway?
Your success rate's much higher by advertising for it in the right places. But then, you know that already, right?
I wouldn't say *much* higher. I still get a high percentage of no's with my usual methods. Again, such a project definitely isn't for everyone. But yeah, overall it's easier to to find models through ads or modeling sites. It's less awkward, at least.
I'm not too find of ads, though, as you have little control over who answers them, even if your ads are fairly specific. And modeling sites aren't ideal either, because it goes without saying that most of the models don't become members to do fetish work, especially not commercial videos (which is why I get a lot of no's).
If you have examples of the "right places" for recruiting, I'd be very grateful if you could share them.
