So the show off your feet and other assets is a hot thread. A lot have posted pictures of their feet.

My question involves the notion of feet as sexual. Would you be as willing to take off your shirt and show pictures of your breasts?

I'm curious about the psychology behind this, if you couldn't tell. Do we still consider breasts private areas, when (I would say some of us) are more interested in feet than breasts?

Does that make sense?

Doesn't make a difference to me. If I show my feet in this forum, I can as well show my breasts, exactly for the reason you mentioned! Feet will turn on people on here just as much as breasts!

It might be a difference in public - on here, it isn't.

What I am a bit shy about is showing my face! 🙂

As Rhiannon pointed out it really isn't much different because feet have the same appeal to some people her as a nice pair of feet will. It's all about how comfortable you are personaly with exposing certain parts of you body. Somebody who is comfortable with showing her breast may not show her feet because she doesn't thing they are very pretty.

Probably because you can see feet all summer long while that doesn't go for breasts. On the other hand - it's pretty common nowadays to take a sunbath topless, not only in the own garden, also in parks and hotels.

Not showing your breasts (and other "private parts") in public is just social tradition. It's there for the same reason we think some words are bad and some words aren't (I.E., swear words). There's no good reason for it; it's just the way it's always been.

But yes; it's basically relative. Some people are turned on by feet more than they are by breasts. Which is weird if you think about it, because seeing as how people wear sandals or go bear-foot all the time, it would equate to someone who is turned on by breasts being able to walk around and look at women's boobs hanging out. Kinda makes you think about human social structures...

Showing your feet, going barefoot, wearing sandals, is accepted as normal in society. A picture of a foot in the mainstream wouldn't be considered pornographic material the same way breasts would.

Most people have grown up knowing where their private parts are and that didn't include feet. So while some may find feet more arousing than breasts, it's less of an issue than baring tits.

Well here in the states, you can't show breasts on regular TV, you can't be topless in public unless you're at a private beach or a nudist colony and so on. Indecent exposure laws and all that. Don't know what it's like where you are.

The reason I mentioned public is because despite how kinky we are, that doesn't mean certain rules that we've been ingrained with since childhood are going to change. There are people out there who get off on people sneezing, there is ear fetishes. That doesn't mean I'm going to hold my nose and wear earmuffs all the time, does it?

So here, people may be more comfortable showing their feet, even though people get off on it, because it's more comfortable and acceptable to them. Others see it the way you do, and that's fine. I'm just trying to find a way to explain what the OP asked.

It all depends on each person and what they're comfortable with.

I think it is different because I walk around all summer with no shoes or sandaled feet. I don't feel exposed by doing that. Showing my breast however is not something I do on a regular basis outside the privacey of my room. And I sure as hell don't expose my breasts to complete strangers. Public nudity is not my thing and should I ever take a picture of myself naked it would not be for open distrobution but between myself and whom ever I decided to share it with.

Yeah, i think more people have seen my feet than have seen my boobs. So I am more comfortable showing off my feet. Besides, I like shoes more than bras.

Society has taught us that Breasts and other private areas are just that; private.

A foot fetish is popular, but not deemed "inappropriate" enough to require feet being covered. So it's not seen in the same light as showing your breasts would be.

Different. 🙂 We have boobs in commercials, can take sunbaths in the park or swimming pool topless, and not too long ago there was a body-painting promo in the middle of an electronic store with two naked girls. We also have our sex magazines in the shelves unwrapped.

I guess we are just not as uncomfortable with nudity as you are in the US. And since I am doing a little modelling as a hobby, I am not very ashamed to show my body as long as it doesn't come to shots of REALLY private areas. 🙂

I don't think we're uncomfortable with nudity per se. There just seems to be a lot of sex in everything. Commercials, tv shows, magazines, etc and I think some people would rather not have their kids around that. Same as violent movies/video games or what have you. Which is why things like that get censored.

Congrats to you for being open about showing off your body and being from a country that features naked body painting. Go you.

The thing is: Nudity itself does not necessarily have to be sexual. So I don't think why you couldn't have your children around it. When I was a child, it was perfectly normal to be with my parents in the same bathroom.

I work for the US Army and sometimes there are problems arising out of the different views on nudity of Americans and Germans. Once a woman was complaining about the sex magazines being open in the shelves of the gas station across from the housing area, and she wanted them to be taken down so her kids couldn't see them. And I really didn't understand why! So what, there are naked women on the cover. A child wouldn't even understand the sexual connotation if being naked was something natural and normal to them as it should be.

But I have to tell you, I am still fascinated that it is possible to film six seasons of Nip/Tuck with sex in every episode without ever showing breasts! THAT is totally impressive to me! 🙂

You're comfortable showing your body and to you exposing boobs and feet are the same thing, in the context of this thread.

Me, if I had feet and wanted to wear sandals, I would. But I would not make the decision about going topless as lightly, obviously.

In public, yes, of course. I am not a big fan of publically sunbathing topless either I have to admit. (Ok, I don't like sunbaths anyways 🙂 ). But as you said, in the context of this thread, I don't see a big difference. I am looking at the reaction provoked by showing off feet or breasts, which really is not different for either one. Others may look solely at what body part is shown off.

Well I have no clue what value system your country is based on, but here, despite what some may say, I think a lot of what the US is about is based on Christian ideals. This might explain why pornography is still seen as taboo, why nudity is so looked down upon, why gays are still seen as living in sin / can't get married, etc.

So is Germany. We Christian traditions are valued a great deal here, we have a lot of Catholics, next Thursday we'll celebrate Corpus Christi with flower carpets, little parades....so it's really Catholic here, the traditions are even more alive than they are in the US. That's why I am so amazed about this!

Perhaps my country is just a little too young. I mean, in comparison to other countries who have had high functioning civilizations for centuries, we're like the kid brother. In a lot of ways, perhaps we still need to grow up.

LOL, that was cute. 🙂 I don't know...maybe it also has to do with the fact that in Europe there are a lot of different countries with different views and cultural behavior at the same amount of space as you have in the US....so we naturally have to deal with a lot of points of view.

I mean, the US is in comparison pretty young...but the people are the same as in Europe because that's where most of the US citizens came from! 🙂
