The first vehicle I ever owned I paid for with money I earned pumping gas at the age of 17. It was a beautiful 1966 Buick Riviera, automatic everything including hidden headlights. I paid $1000.00 for it. I made it into a lowrider; had the chain steering wheel and Cragar deep dish rims... oh, yeah, and the 560 tires. I loved that thing but sadly found out that engines need oil changes more than twice a year. And to this day I'll never understand why I went with the 8-track tape deck instead of the much better cassette deck. I WAS only 17 years old.

wait what? your car needed only two oil changes a year? My car takes 3-4 damn...My first car was a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I bought it just after i Graduated in 2K2. it was completely stock until i decided to throw some money into it. It now is on American Racing Casino wheels with Kumho Tires, an A&A custom spoiler, Niteshades sprayed over the tail lights and reverser lights to give the "blackout effect", chrome shifter inside, some blue neons that pulsate to the music, new 3100 sfi v6 engine in it, avs side window wind deflectors and head light covers, some minor mods to the engine and my flowmaster delta flow 40 series exhaust with 3" monza pace setter exhaust tips. its starting to look good, but i want it to look even better!

Hey, Navel. What I meant by two oil changes a year is that I was such a ditz back then I was only interested in my car's appearance rather than its proper maintenance. After that car died, I bought a '66 Chevy Impala SuperSport and made IT into a lowrider (I was influenced by Cheech and Chong's movie "Up In Smoke"). I sold that car just before I went into the Navy.

My first car, was a 1984 Iszuzu (sp?) I-Mark hatchback. It was a 5 speed manual, no power anything (Steering by armstrong), and went 0-60 in a week. It was given to me by my parents when I turned 16 in 1994. I had it for 3 years untill it caught fire while on vacation in Oregon. Needless to say, the car was worthless when I got it, so nothing was added.

It was a green Ford Fairmont my Mom gave me after she bought her new Honda Accord. I loved it because it was a car. I would of taken anything when I was 16. It gave me my freedom to go and do what I wanted.

My first death trap was a 1976 baby poop green Maverick that my parents paid $200 for. It was rusted so bad that if you even bumped it a piece would fall off. I had a matching baby poop green and white checkered blanket as a seat cover in the front. AM/FM radio (no cassette) that was lucky to get in one station, and only when I was on the north side of town where the signal was the strongest. I scraped the rear bumper on the street once trying to back out of a friends driveway, and the bumper fell off right then and there. Had to drive it the next 5 months with a 2X4 as a bumper. It spit and leaked oil so severely that I had to open the hood and clean the spark plugs once a week, or else it would cough and wheeze and choke so bad I would not be able to get it out of the driveway. A large blue cloud of exhaust followed me everywhere. I owned stock in Penzoil. And lets not forget the brakes that went all the way down to the floor boards. We won't even get into the fact it sounded like a dragon with a spear stuck in it's ass driving down the road. The cops LOVED me.

I stuck it out with that first vehicle for over a year before my parents helped me upgrade to a 1978 banana yellow Pinto.

....you dont even know you are born!!!! when it comes to getting your first jam jar. My first motor was a Reliant Robin, the fibre glass three wheeler or "plastic pig" as we call them over here. Not a bad motor actually, nought to thirty five nothing could touch me! the power to weight ratio was awesome (a bit like Colin Montgomeries putting)

Mine was the rather exotic 850cc model, my bass player had the rather more conservative 650cc version, but he still managed to get a full sized double bass in it, although the scroll had to stick out of the front passenger window with a plastic bag over it!

We travelled all over the place in these two cars we called it "gigs in pigs".

you sold it in 87?! damn you! lmfao. eh, some jap cars just dont have the torque. Its great that they have 300 hp. its a shame it only has 88 ft/lb torgue to move it down the stretch. my opinion of course. my car..225 hp..253 ft/lb torque. i do need more everything tho, but not bad for a fwd. When i get my new engine tho, it will be 265hp 287ft/lb torque stock. thats without me "tinkering" with it perse

I goofed... you weren't even born when I sold it. I'm not into racing cars anyway. I have very sensitive ears and the noise really gets to me. The first car I learned how to drive was my Dad's Ford Maverick, not much better than a Pinto, but it never failed to stall when I wanted it to go.

ah, so you aint got that need for speed like me eh? My car isnt loud. My Muffler does have a deep tone like a 60's muscle car did. My stereo my be a problem for you tho! lol. so do you like lowriders?? i think that the right cars look good as lowriders. My car will be riding lower by next year, just not as a lowrider. im putting on Kyb struts with Eibach lowering springs. same ride, same handle, just better performance overall tho. stylin' and profilin'

I find it amusing when I see these young vatos cruisin' in their rides, tryin' to look cool, as if no one's done it before. Of course, the same thing was probably said about me all those years ago. Lowriders are cool, but I got sick of that 'Hey, check me out" attitude years ago.

My first car was a '81 Pontian J2000 (what they turned into a Sunbird). It was a serious POS (I owned it in 1995) that topped out at 45mph when I pushed it and sounded like a lawnmower. My dad got it for free and I drove it for about two years before it caught on fire...

A 1972 completely stock Dodge Demon. I remember those 225 straight 6 enginge was to last forever. If that car was going to die, I would have to shoot it. Come to think of it, I was pretty close a couple of times. The thing I remember most was that the carburator was defective that year and the car was constantly prone to stalling out. Used to drive me nuts. Other than that, it was a good car. I had some ideas about souping it up but the money tree died on me 😀

I've been flipped off by little old ladies because I drive so cautiously. My racing days are over... especially when I nearly tore the drive shaft out of my lowrider Riviera. The car was only three inches off the ground. I don't even think I was racing when that happened. I think I ran over a pebble too quickly.

Funny thing about Pintos. They were the worlds most dangerous cars. The gas tanks were notorious for rupturing on rear impact collisions since it was so close to the frame. They other funny thing is that Ford Motor Company actually had a rubber insert for the gas tanks in the original plans for the car. But, it was untested and the 'higher ups' wanted the car in production ASAP. So, the Pinto actually went from one of the safest cars in its class... to the worlds most dangerous.

hey thats great..255hp. with no torque where you going tho? i know jap cars are very low on torque. My Buddy here, a very rich kid, he has a Supra he said he run against your SE. 1081hp 637 ft/lb torque. thats when hes not racing it. 🙂 My other friend who isnt as rich, hes got a Camaro that hes lookin to race ppl with. Its got a 383 stroker in it. pushing 400 rwhp. 486ft/lb torque..he loves eating up ricers. 😛
