How do you feel about Pornography.

First of all, I do not consider Playboy pornography. If anything Playboy is a life style magazine with (generally) tasteful nudes of women. To call Playboy pornography is like calling Grape Juice wine. Other then the grapes, it has nothing in common with win, other then the nudity Playboy has nothing in common with Porn.

Next, this isn't about stuff with kids or animals. Obviously anything with kids or animals is disgusting. I am talking about two legal adults being filmed having sex. I watch Adult Cinema, and their are not kids or Animals in true Adult Cinema, only adults.

That being said, I like porn. I especially enjoy movies that have some sort of theme, or some kind of a story. I may be a perv, but stag flicks can get boring after a while. My favorite porn stars are Jenna Jameson and Peter North. My favorite films are Flash point, Pirates and Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge (ironically Peter is in neither).

I don't think there is anything wrong with consenting adults choosing to be filmed having sex. I do not pass ill judgment on them for it, after all I am watching it, and supporting the industry, so who am I to do so. I can understand how some people could find pornography in bad taste, or not to their personal liking, however I do not think it is right for others to try and remove it from society, because it is not for them to decide what I can or can't watch. If you don't like it, then don't watch it.

Lastly, I am not stupid, I know their are abusive people in the adult film industry, however making porn illegal will not put a stop to that. If anything it will only make it worse, because it will simply go underground and then the women in the business will have no place to go is they get in trouble. If people want to clean up the porn industry by getting the abusive people out of it I would support that 100%, just like I support the use of condoms in the movies.

Without porn, 3/4 of the people on this forum wouldn't be here.

Just a comment on how porno industry is important. At a time of resession in U.S one of the producers, who have made millions in being first one to film porno, made a request to U.S governmnet for 5 billion subsidy for porno industry. His reasoning was that it is not as important to fuil in funds into the car industries, because people till can survive without a cars, but they cannot live without porn. And in addition he mentioned that at that time porno industry employed more people than car industry did. lol Too bad I do not remember the mane of the man.

Sorry, I am an economics major so sometimes I get carried away from the ectual question.

I recently read a statistic that was something like 30% of men and 10% of women have viewed porn at least once, which I found really surprising. I was sure that more people had at least looked at porn. That's not really relevant, but I'm kind of curious if anyone else has anything to say about that.

About porn itself, they don't really make much porn that's marketed towards women. A lot of my female friends enjoy looking at guy on guy porn, and there's actually a good bit of that aimed at straight women, and since two guys going at it doesn't do it for me, there's not a lot of porn that I can enjoy. I'm all for porn though, and don't have much of a problem with it.

Have you checked out the two Pirates films I mentioned?

Any guy who claims he's never watched porn is a filthy, filthy liar.

Actually this probably isn't true, but I wish it was; the very few men I know who may have never watched porn are more sexually confused and repressed than I can even describe (I grew up Pentacostal).

And I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of women have watched porn too. They just lie because of the stigma.

Here's a fun fact, peripheral to the topic; in the 1800's being a 'heterosexual' meant you were mentally ill, since you were sexually attracted to members of the opposite sex (as opposed to just your husband or wife, as God intended). Once people started being a little less ashamed of their sexuality, the stigma around heterosexuality went away, and most of the stigma around masturbation went away... Give it a little more time, and people will stop denying that they like porn too.

I would never want porn to go 100% main stream but a little more acceptance would be cool. Then maybe the performers could join the screen actors guild and get some protection from the less savory characters who work in the industry.

Okay, let me make it clear that I am referring only to myself. Yes, I've watched some porn movies, and they do nothing for me. I need to be in a long-term, committed relationship with a woman before we take that step. It is just the way I am. I have no intrest in watching others engage in sexual acts.

If you want to watch it, and get some pleasure out of it, knock yourself out. Just not my cup of tea. 🙂

Porn has its purpose, but I think it's a little more than two people having sex on tape. If you have to be 18 or older to look at it / read it / buy it / etc and it was made with the intent to arouse the audience, it's porn. At least, that's how I see it.

True, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done with style 😀.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I also thought it was weird because I have several female friends who are very open about their love of watching guy on guy porn, so from my experience, that statistic is way wrong.

Wow, really? That's weird.

I myself would rather have sex on a bed...(ba-da-bump!)😀

Seriously, when I was coming up the only way to watch porn (which itself was rather dumbed-down and predictable) was in a sleazy theater in a crummy neighborhood, or in an uncomfortable, box-like booth in the back of an adult bookstore whose sanitation was questionable at best. Maybe some folks got off on the sleaze and shame of that whole scene, but I myself didn't. I stuck to the magazines which you could find in drugstores, like Playboy, Penthouse, etc. which were sleazy in their own airbrushed, high-gloss way.

To me, that whole scene was the worst part of being single, alone, virginal and seeking out fantasy fodder. At least there are better options on the market now. I think the introduction of first the VCR and then the DVD are the main reason why.

Well, I don't think anybody here needs to be told that I fuckin LOVE PORN.

That said, I think it's like any other medium, with uses both benign, malign, and exploitative depending on the people involved.

The notion that things appealing to prurient interest are inherently bad for you is, in my opinion, poppycock (I'm going to say it again: POPPYCOCK!). If that were the case, then your SO is bad for you considering that they have to inspire prurient interest if you want to be able to copulate with them in the first place.

I would argue, much as Alan Moore does, that sexually appealing material has been stigmatized before it was even adopted as a commonplace practice; as such, it never received the respect necessary to attract serious people who would have applied the same discipline or creativity that literature, filmmaking, and art enjoy. While the technology is changing that lately, porn still has the association of having no standards and no serious contemplation, and it will probably take a few decades before people in the mainstream finally decide it has merit outside of whacking fuel.

I would also like to add that pornstars and sex artists are also stigmatized and not appreciated by the very people who enjoy their services, and find it hard to move on once they leave the business.

I haven't got anything against porn, but overall it doesn't do anything for me. I've stumbled upon a little something here or there that I found myself taking a second look at - but it's not something that I seek out at all.

Well put Bugman.

I look at it this way. What you do, in the privacy of your home, is not anyones business unless it crosses the line to physical or mental abuse. Then, someone needs to step in. I'm using you in a generic sense of course.

Did you really have to bring up that misogynistic tool Alan Moore?

Check this out.

I'm okay with it. As are a great deal of people on this media-sharing fetish forum, I believe. 😀

Isaac newton was a pathologically self-absorbed asshole...didn't make his observations or ideas any less brilliant or amazing though.

How often did Newton get literature published that depicted women as totally useless. Anything Alan Moore has to say about adult cinema comes from from a pile of bull shit, and he isn't as brilliant as people think. I haven't liked a single thing he has written other then Supreme. He is a hack, and a sexist pig of a hack at that.

Okay, okay Daytime Emmy! He was talking about adult material, first of all, not exclusively adult cinema, and even then, I think he makes some damn good points about mainstream cultural perceptions about the nature of adult material. He might be a sexist pig in life--I don't know for sure--but I don't see how your accusations of sexism translate to his work, especially Watchmen or From Hell, or even Tom Strong which has a strong African woman as the main female character.

He's not Steve Ditko; just because he's an [unconfirmed] whack-a-loon doesn't mean he puts his prejudices in his work, or make him incapable of making poignant observations. Michael Jackson's pedophilia charges didn't immediately make his music shitty, and Roman Polanski's rape case didn't make Chinatown the worst movie ever made retroactively.

Unless of course, you believe that having a significant character flaw or unscrupulous nature immediately invalidates any talent someone might have.
