How long could you keep from laughing?

Question folks....

Have you ever tried to hold out laughing when tickled and if so, could you? Now I know most of us are probably too ticklish to even consider this an option. I also know that it depends on whether you are being tickled on that most ticklish spot, or somewhere which is less ticklish and you are able to grit your teeth for a few seconds.

Share your opinions, stories, or simply tell me that you would ALWAYS laugh and not be able to stop! 🙂

When i was little I used to play a game with my sisters and their friends where we'd see who could hold out the longest...the looser then got 'tickled to death' by the others. They were all girls and mostly alot older than me, and of course being my big sisters they knew all my most ticklish little spots so naturally I nearly always lost...they only had to chant 'Robbies gonna loose....Robbies gonna loose' and wiggle their fingers over my tummy and i'd start giggling...game over !!...and then they'd all jump on me and the gang tickling would begin. I don't think I ever made it past five but god I absolutely loved that game !!!

Now I'm a grown man I'd like to think that I could possibly hold out for alot longer but happy experience shows that just under the surface of my terribly ticklish tummy there's still that little boy who comes giggling to the surface the moment someone 'gets me'. Infact now I think five may even be an beyond me !!

Actually that gets me thinking...Does anyone else think we actually get more ticklish as we get older or is it just me ?? Sorry to sort of hijack the thread but I'd love to know !!

I think my record so far is 6 seconds. My problem is that once I start laughing, I can't stop.

It varied with age for me.

When I was in high school and college you could tickle me anywhere and I would sit there and look at you like you were on fire. (Unless under special circumstances...but those are for the stories forum!)

Now? One finger on either foot and I'm through the roof. Lightly scratch my sides/belly? I'll giggle like a little girl!

I was never really good at "holding out" but I did better with places like my feet b/c they arnt as ticklish. The gal I am seeing now (who i am thinking might be into tickling) can hold it if she wants to and its fo furstrating! I can grab and tickle her sides and tummy sometimes and she will look at me with no expression and all she has to do is a simple poke and go through the roof! *sigh* 🙂

There is no way I can hold it in - I'm usually a giggling laughing mess even before I have been touched, cos as soon as I see those wiggling fingers, or a tickle tool heading my way I am in a state of hysterical ticklish anticipation knowing what is about to come.

I know from recent experience that I can hold out for at least 7 minutes, but only if very certain conditions are met. This was for a wager and I very much wanted to win and there were ground rules in place. Without the ground rules, though, fageddaboudit.

I don't even bother trying to hold out....for starters, I'm just too ticklish to try and put up a 'front,' and secondly, don't really have a reason TO hold out.....laughing from being tickled is just as much part of the fun as being tickled itself....getting totally lost in the experience as well as the reverence of just how productive the fingers of a willing 'ler can actually be!!

....hell...I say let the jaw drop....have yerself the best laugh you can have....

I've never really tried to hold in my laughter, just for the sake that I didn't want to choke or end up coughing my lungs out.

I am way too ticklish all over my body to be able to hold out from laughing. Mine is immediate upon being tickled. My degree of laughter is different though depending on what part of me is being tickled. If a woman with long fingernails glides them up and down my legs, I'm a goner. Immediate, involuntary, very hysterical laughter will result. My ticklish laughter translates to "More please"!

I would have to say not very damn long and that would go for sitting still too, I don't know how some people do that trying to hold still and not laugh, not possible for me. But like others said, there is no reason to try to hold it in especially with a skilled ler, they want you laughing your ass off anyway.

I agree with many of you, I wouldn't want to, nor try to hold in my ticklish laughter. That's half the fun of it, whether the tickler, or the ticklee. I heard this question posed a long time ago and thought it was a good one to ponder....even if none of us really feel it's possible!

Hmm holding it in?? Hard to even imagine how it's possible! I haven't had too much success at that, I have to confess. Nor have i tried except in games. Usually i wind up cheating.😛 You know, burying my face in a pillow to muffle the sounds But i remember when i was in my mid teens. My brothers had hit upon tickle torture as a way to coerce me into doing things for them. So i decided at one point, on the truly dubious advice of a friend, to "not be ticklish anymore".

OMIGAWD!

Can you ;imagine a more crimson curtain to wave in front of my bull-headed bros???😱

The moment i told them, as per the plan, that i wasn't ticklish anymore they immediately had to first test it out then prove it false!!
Needless to say, the plan didn't last very long. Oh well. It's all good since i have come to truly thrill to the touch!

But just to keep this on topic, I think i actually one time managed to hold out for 10 seconds before frantically writhing and squealing for mercy. I kind of suspect that was the last hurrah for the foiled plan.

Is this cheating? Because if this is cheating, then I guess I didn't go 7 minutes, exactly. I may have left teeth marks in something or other while trying not to laugh. Ok- I need to know- does this count OR NOT? (Too late now since I already collected on winning the bet, but for future reference.)

First, I should say as a disclaimer that my ticklishness, and tickle-spot locations, tend to vary unpredictably.

That said, my record at being able to hold in laughter is about an hour. I was tied up at the time (I've only been tied up once or twice), and my ler was pretty good. It was my 'tickle apprentice.' I managed to actually hold off laughing for an hour before finally giving in and chuckling. She was going all over too, so my ticklish spots were definitely being hit. Oddly, being tied up actually helped me focus on not laughing. Something to the effect of "I can't struggle away easily--so I'd _better_ focus on my resistance, cuz that's the only defense I have." I also decided to try to untie myself from the ropes, which I managed at the end of said hour. This diversion actually helped me focus my thoughts away from being tickled onto something else.

Note I said 'avoid laughing.' I made plenty of other noises: Snarling, growling, thrashing, teeth-gnashing, cursing, gasping, and so forth. She said I sounded like a tiger getting stuffed into a blender.

So there's my record =)
