How many surgeries have you had?

Only one, but it was a biggie; surgery to remove my cancerous right kidney twenty-two months ago. So far so good.....living okay with only one kidney, and no recurrance of cancer....praying it stays that way.

None unless you count the 2 Wisdom tooth extractions, the 6 root canals and the 1 RE-root canal.

"They call me Mr. Glass because my teeth break like glass."

Um....I had my tonsils out in second grade.

That's all.

I had a mole on my face that needed to be biopsied because it started to grow and change color. Since it was on my face I needed to go to a plastic surgen. I hated that mole so I was knind of happy when I heard it would come off and even more happy when I found out it was not cancer. I traded the mole for a scar on my face, but to his credit the plastic man made the cut on my smile line so people usually don't notice it until I point it out. That surgery did wonders for my self-esteem.

This thread should come with a disclaimer! I brought up this subject with my wife and she almost beat me down when I suggested my single stitch for a mole removal on my back was roughly the equivalent of her emergency surgery for a ruptured disc in her back. As far as what one might consider true standard surgery I have had 2.

4

1980 -- tonsils

1990 -- R shoulder used to dislocate 8-10 times a year and was pretty messed up by the time i finally agreed to have the arthroscopic surgery. no problems since. YAY!

7/2002 -- my car accident. had R tibia put back into my body, ankle joint cleaned out from having my ankle, tibia and fibula crushed, had an external fixator installed to hold my foot anatomically in place for three months while the tibia and fibula grew back, had a plate with 7 screws installed on my fibula, had multiple large lacerations on my R knee sewn up (i still have a torn meniscus that hasn't been dealt with) and had two long pins inserted into my R big toe to hold it anatomically in place (they were removed a month later in the doctor's office which was wild. i guess it could happen because the nerves required to lift my big toe took 9 months to grow back so i didn't experience a lot of pain as 2 6" or so pins were pulled out of my toe as i just sat there.)

10/2002 -- external fixator removed, ankle cleaned out again, bone graft on my R tibia and plate with 7 screws installed on my tibia (bone graft didn't take and i had a broken leg for 2 years while i used a bone stimulator to help the bone grow back).

there's always the potential for further surgeries as i continue to recover.

I lost count after nine i think it is might be more but nine is all i remember right now.

I've had a few over the course of time, not by choice of course but never the less they had to be done,

4...all minor

2 oral surgeries
1 on my foot to remove a chunk of wood I'd gotten deep in there while sliding on a wood floor in stocking feet.
1 on my back to remove a little infected cyst.
