How much do you love your City/town?

I'm rating mine as an 9 out of 10 mainly because it's very peaceful

I, too, am from the Queen City/Porkopolis/Cincinnati. I was born and raised here and I've lived here the better part of my life. I'd give it an 8/10. We have sports teams to love or hate. We have enough cultural events year round. Night life doesn't enter into my equation, but there are a fair amount of choices. I live in the suburbs and the only downfall is not having any easy access to the highways. Otherwise, I'm content enough with my city - flaws and all.

Seeing that I live in the most expensive city in the country. The cost of living sucks bigtime. However the trade off would be that everything is at your fingertips I guess so I'd rate my city at about a 9.

Lathrop, CA. 3/10

Aside from my house, I don't like it. The weather sucks (HOT), crime is high and there are very few job opportunties. The city was voted 2nd worst in the nation a couple of years ago because of the aforementioned.

As most of you may know, Lathrop is the foreclosure capital in the nation. When I first purchased the home, it was brand, spanking new in a good neighborhood with people that cared about the property and community. Prices spiked (2004'ish) so people rented and sold to move closer to their jobs. A high school was built in the vicinity which brought idiot teenagers and their litter along with thugs and drug traffic... Then the bottom fell out and the economy went to shit. At least every other house in the neighborhood was vacant and the property value went to shit. Banks took over and rented to people that didn't give a damn about the home or the area and slowly, it's turned into a ghetto.

That's the nutshell version.

Can I give negative numbers? Let's just say I love my city so much, I am preparing to move out of the state so I can get a better appreciation for it from afar :jester:

New York City: 9/10

(The politicians who run it: 3/10.)

the people, the history, times square, 34th street just walking around its a wonderful feeling. the clubs, bars, sports ect.

You are officially the first person who lives in NYC to tout Times Square as a good part the city. 😀

I'd give NYC an 7/10. I like most of it a lot. I hate that it's unaffordable, that public transit is unreliable on weekends, and that it's difficult to raise a family here. But you can find anything you want here, the restaurant choices are among the best in the world, and it's a diverse place. I'm not sure we'll be within the five boroughs forever, but for now it's fun.

I too fear I won't be able to raise a family here (as my family has been doing for generations) due to the ridiculous raise in cost-of-living.

Oh yeah, and fucking Times Square is the Disney Land of NYC... can't imagine how anyone would enjoy such a congested, overpriced, trite part of the greatest city in the world.

On a side note, the complete transformation of Times Square in less than ten years from Red Light District to "Center of the World" is pretty astonishing, methinks.

I'd give my college town a 6/10. We have access to the typical chain stores and restaurants, in addition to some fine local places. However, there is no variety in entertainment as everything is either a crowded club or a crowded bar. A nice, moderately filled bar would be full of real adults (30s and up) who don't want to see college students hanging around, and few bars both cater to students and aren't overrun on the weekends unless there's a good reason people don't go there.

On the plus side, living in West Virginia means awesome wilderness as soon as you leave the city, and the cost of living is cheaper than some other college towns. A lot of companies make for good internships and job opportunities, and I'm definitely willing to stay and start my career here if the opportunity presents itself. I just see myself settling down in a place where excitement means something other than clubbing with the frat/sorority scene.

Edinburgh has everything you want from a city smooth and cultural on the surface but a nice sleazy underbelly to give that edge of danger .Two faults, the pissy weather and the bloody festival which has gotten just too big for the size of the place. so I give it 8 out of ten.
