I can't win

This is fantastic. I just got out of the mental health clinic (no joke) a few days ago. I was diagnosed schizoaffective disorder (part schizophrenia, part Bi-polar) after being tired of the voices (they were there a year) and decided to commit suicicde. Needless to say, I thought better of it and got help instead. My girlfriend NEVER calls me or visits me. And now, she says she just can't be with a "Schizo". This is the same girl who said she loved me and wanted to be with me for life. I hate this shit. Has anyone else had something like this?

I'm sorry for all your bad breaks Aachen. But always keep your head up man and keep on fighting through all of it. Because if you give up on life or yourself or who ever in your life that REALLY cares for you. Then you have just stopped trying and waved the white flag.

Aachen1983, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your girlfriend, and I echo what Butterfly wings said. However, I must ask you this: Have you told her that you've gotten help for your problem, and reassured her that you're not a "Schizo" anymore?

If she doesn't listen to you even after you've tried talking to her, she might not be the girl for you, since she doesn't seem to understand or sympathize with what you're going through. I would think she'd at least give you another chance if she loved you as much as you do her.

Sorry if you think I'm being insensitive, but I'm just giving you my two cents. Good luck, and I hope everything works out for you both. 🙂

Labeling you a "schizo" after you've gone for help is not the sign of the supportive friendship you need right now, aachen. I don't mean to be overly blunt about it but I think you should let this person go and let her find someone who's "perfect". Good luck to her on that one...

I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck. I do hope you are at least feeling better.
Unfortunately, Iam a believer in the theory of "When It Rains, It Pours", and that sometimes, bad things can all hit a person at one time. Last year, in March, I was forced to close a business that I loved after 3 years, because it didnt work out, and then, that same week literally, my father and I estranged, and we havent talked in a year and eight months. Sometimes life just can have a cycle for a bit, where nothing seems to go right, and all goes wrong, but those cycles do change.
Good Luck with your mental health issues. Iam sorry to hear about your girlfriend and what she did. It hurts now. Hopefully soon, you will be able to find someone else who is more understanding.

it's old and lame but still fits...

dump your zero and get you a hero hon. I've struggled with my own psych probs in the past (nothing as serious as what you suffer from) and I now counsel those who have them. Please do not give up. A competent therapist will keep trying different meds with you until they find one that works.

Thanks Steph. right now I am on 240mg of Geodon for a month, then 160mg a day after that. Geodon seems to work wonders.

I'm sorry to hear of your illness, Aachen. You are in my prayers.

IMHO true courage is a trait demonstrated by folks like you, that have to live with and overcome mental illness / emotional disorders on a daily basis.

Anybody can comit a brave act, that only takes a single decision and a brief time to impliment - but it's folks in your position that are courageous.

Dude. That kind of person you shouldn't get married to AT ALL. If she starts hating you just because you have something wrong with your mind, it means shes worthless. I'm Hard core bi-polar. Yup, I'll admit it cause I ain't ashamed of it. You'll feel better later, they have meds to help out with the voices ^^

so sorry to hear that about your gf. she isnt worth a cent to me. hey i've been there, my mom was schizophrenic feel free to pm me anytime ok? and with meds it can be controlled . you have friends here who care for you. glad you dumped her. you can find much better. it must hurt of course, anytime one is rejected hurts no matter what the reason. but keep up your spirits and never ever consider suicide. pm me i mean it ok?
