But your efforts won't go unrewarded! I got up at 5am to take my walk this morning (and nearly every morning). My pillow sure looks lonely without me but I've got to do it! You can, too. Hey, we're all in this together, separated by miles but joined at the heart. And Steph, the book of recipes is called "Raw Food-The Un-Cook Book", by Julian. (He uses one name and I hope that's it. I gave the book back to my friend a few days ago)

I guess vegetarian is fine for some people and I have nothing against it. But, I do need meat on my plate sometimes too. Even if I don't always eat it, I like meat. What are your suggestions for me?

My thoughts exactly. I need meat as well. One thing you can do is that you can adopt the concept from weight watchers where you control the amount of meat you eat in a day. No offense featherfingers, but I don't think the vegitarian concept is for me either

I really tried to be good today......

But those Oreo double-stuf cookies wouldn't stop calling me! I've had a setback, needless to say! They were good too!

It's been so long since I've eaten junk food. I've been good, but today wasn't so great.😡 🙁 :sowrong:

When will I ever get it right??????

The less you worry about it, the more your natural appetite will take care of it. Don't stress too much over it. One day isn't going to kill you

Right on! I'm a total believer in having a "cheat day"
XOXO

I just want you to know that I'm not a total vegetarian. I will eat chicken and fish on occasion, because I'm not sure if I'm getting enough protein eating strictly vegetarian food. No offense taken, by the way. My vegetarian lady friend did point out to me that gorillas, as strong as they are, are strictly vegetarian. Makes you think. And Kis, don't fret about 'cheating' every now and then. I'm an ice cream junkie. If I overdo it, I just walk a little more the next day. I received confirmation that weight training is definitely a necessity in the battle of the bulge. I've been a bit lax when it comes to lifting weights but I feel extremely pumped after I do it. That can become addictive, too.

My definition of weight training is wimpish at best! I was at the rec center yesterday with a lady in her sixties. You guys should have seen her! She worked out like she was making a video or something! I felt a little stupid watching this lady old enough to be my mother blowing me away in the weight room. But she said she's been working out regularly since 1989. She looked good and I can only aspire to be like her someday.

Well, it's off to work out and then to the library. Yeah, I have such an exciting life!!!🙄 Six more weeks of school! Six more weeks and I'm free!!!!!!!!!😀

Remember, Kis, the tassle that is on the mortarboard (graduation hat) can be a great tickle tool! Good luck with your studies and your fitness program!

Good advice on the tickle tool, but I've waited a lot of years to complete my degree. I'll be mounting that tassel on the mirror in my truck next to my son's tassel (he graduated from high school this June). So I'll be finding other tools for my tickle toybox!

I have really appreciated this thread and hope it continues for a very long time. Don't get bored with giving me tips, advice, and encouragement. I have a lot of work to do and a long way to go, but I'm really starting to believe that I'll make it this time.:grouphug:

Kis, drop in on us from time to time during study breaks. I'm sure this thread will be helping a whole lot of people, so it'll be here for quite a while. Now, Carpe Diem!

I just want to throw in something that is looooooong overdue. After about 64 posts, I think it's high time. I just want to thank you all for all your kind words and support, not just for me but for Kis as well. I am really impressed on how this thread has taken and hope it continues. I am not out of the woods either. I plan to continue so I can use the support as well.

Kis, the best advice I can give you is just hang in there. I think if you can adopt some of the ideas exchanged in this thread (not just from me, but from Frankie, Tommy, Steph and all other contributors), you WILL make it. I know it's a long hall, but for me, it's been a period of a little over two years. Out of that time, the last nine months have really taken off. I have lost about 30 out of the 57 pounds (two more this week) during that time.

As far as the definition of weight traing goes. The wimps are the ones that sit on the sidelines. You are in the game. Give yourself a break! That woman you are talking about has been working out for 15 years religiously. SHE had to start somewhere! I'm sure any trainer will tell you that it doesn't matter where you start, it's where you end up. For me, when I started, it was like I had the ball on MY OWN 1 yard line and now I would probably say I am just entering the red zone (that's the opponents 20 yard line, for those who don't follow football).

Kis, I also like your attitude as well. If you think you'll make it, you WILL. I remember you saying that your kids like you the way you are. Well, they love you unconditionally, and that's a testomine of being a great mom to them all these years! I can tell you from my own experience that my son, from time to time these days, says to me, "Dad, you are really looking handsome". First time I heard that, I was floored. I feel I am doing it for my kids as well as me cuz, I am showing him that it's important to take care of your self. They will repect you more (not that they don't now, but just to a greater degree)

Also a cheat day is cool from time to time. If you don't allow that, you will feel like you are depriving yourself and go off on a binge and defeat the whole purpose.

Definitely keep us posted

Giantfan makes a good point... I overheard some musclehead at the gym say, "Look at all of these chicken-legged motherf***ers." I felt like telling him, "Hey, Steroid Boy, you mean you weren't a beginner once?", but I like my teeth right where they are. That's just the point, though. You're at the gym for the betterment of your health, not so you can parade in front of people and kiss your own biceps. You're there for honorable reasons. Never compare yourself to others anyway. I wasted a good portion of my early 20's doing that. You're YOU, so be the best YOU that you can be!

I'm taking a study break. I have really gotten on my own nerves!🙁

I have a new online class that started last Thurs, right? I'm reading my text and realize I don't have the right book! I've ranted and raged all weekend about the school's ineptitude because we've had so many problems before.

Well, I got a delivery a few weeks ago that I looked at but wasn't sure of what it was due to the packaging. I almost sent it back, but something told me not to. I found the package about 10 mins ago and guess what it was??? Yeah, the stupid textbook!! But it wasn't packaged like the other books the school sent me. I thought it was my graduation package. I don't officially graduate until Dec., so I put it aside being too busy taking classes to worry about graduation. I've lost the entire weekend and the assignments are due by Weds night. I'm so mad at myself I could simply scream!!!

Well, now that I've gotten that off my chest, there are a few other things I'd like to address:

The comment I made about the sixty year old was in admiration of her efforts. She just made me feel a little stupid that's all. I continued my whopping 22 mins of bike riding and light weights. She didn't discourage me, she encouraged me.

I even met a man in his late sixties today. He worked out like Arnold Swarzenegger (spelling). We talked for awhile and he wished me well. I'd rather deal with him than the types you meet at Bally's (meat market). A lot of those people are so superficial.

The rec center is free to city residents so they should be fit. I'm not a city resident, but the price is decent. That doesn't bother me at all! It's just interesting to watch grandma and grandpa pump iron🙂 .

I'm not very good at journaling so I've been using this thread as a journal of daily progress. I hope that doesn't offend anyone because I really need all of you if I'm going to get through this. The TMF has been a part of my life for over a year and I have changed because of all of you and your inputs.

I have also listened to all of your suggestions and comments. I'm just going to plug away and see what happens on the other side.

Gotta run and study something before I go to bed. If you don't hear from me for awhile, I have a lot of studying to catch up on! Have a great one!
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Kis, I WANT to know what's going on with you and your progress. Sorry you had that book trouble. And it's great that you've seen older people looking as fit as they do... that's inspiration for us all! Journaling is great. I used to do it a lot years ago. It's funny to read them today... you can see how you've grown as a person. And you can always burn them if you want to get rid of the negative moments (Spiritually, in a way). Now, get to studying or you won't get any tickling until tomorrow.

It makes a world of difference GF and totally changes your life. Well done you and long may it continue.

Thanks for your kind words. It most certainly does. Mostly, the way you feel about yourself.

Welcome to the thread, big guy!!

Giantfan, I think this thread you started may have changed Kis's life. You never know how something you do will affect the lives of others. I've said it before but I'll say it again... thanks for this thread and I wish you continuing success!

I've had a day that can be best described as being spat from the mouth of Hades!😡

I spent most of the weekend studying for my Notary Public license. There is a huge waiting list in my county, so I was told I could take the test in another county. I called the unamed county's bar association and was given a green light. I drove over an hour on Friday to fill out the application and pay for my test. They took my ID and my check that both showed my home address.

It's today at about 9:30am and I had driven an hour to get to the test on time. They start 15 minutes late (think they would've let me in if I showed up 15 mins late?) and begin passing out tests to everyone except me. I was told I could not take the test because I was not a county resident.

Now, let's review:

I called in advance and got the green light
I showed up and showed my home address on my drivers license and my check.

I filled out an application with my home address on it.

Do you think they could've informed me at any point of this process that they couldn't do it?

Everyone stated they knew the law, but when I asked the director why her staff didn't inform me of the law they claimed to know, she glibly answered "I don't know" and basically walked away. Oh, did I mention they have no idea when they can refund my money???

I already put a call into the state offices, and I might get it returned sometime before hell freezes over. This is supposed to be the bar association-the hub of legalease. Everyone knew the law after I spent money and wasted valuable time, but no one knew it when it mattered--at the beginning! All they had to do was tell me over the phone and none of this would've ever happened.

Why am I posting this on this thread (inquiring minds want to know)? I ended up with a migraine headache and unable to go and work out. I've had the most unproductive day of the year today and I'm still angry about it. Now I have to wait until my county administers the test--December 17th!

How about that to start the week?:sowrong: :wow: :Grrr: :disgust: :ignite: :ignite: :ignite:

Kis, I hope I didn't speak too soon, a post ago. Someday you'll look back on today and laugh... but not anytime soon. What can you do now? Can't they make arrangements to give you a make-up test in an office in your county? You followed their instructions to the tee, I think. They made the error. Take it up the ladder... go to the top of the heap (chain of command, as it was called in my Navy days) You deserve better than that. Write to your Congressman. Don't sit idly by waiting for their response or your pretty head will be covered with gray hair. Hold them accountable. Keep me informed. And see a Reflexologist or massage therapist to help get rid of your migraine! (It figures I overlooked December 17th... If I wrote anything helpful, please take it to heart... I just edited this)

If I weren't in school exhausting my energy to get caught up in my classes, I'd be in Columbus (three hours away) raising hell! I'm going to do some more calls, but I have to keep myself focused until I get out of school. I only have a few weeks to go, but these classes are very hard and I'm already terribly behind.

God has a way of bringing everything to full circle. I'm going to remain as proactive throughout the process as possible, but I'm going to also have to let Him sort it out. He has a way of doing that. If these people screwed me around, I'm sure they've done it to someone else. Your number comes up eventually. I personally would feel better if someone tossed a grenade or dropped a SCUD missile on the entire city of jackasses!😡 What a bunch of losers!
