Anyone here ever had a kidney stone attack? My first one was around 2 years ago and my second one just started 2 days ago. It was so bad I had to check in to the local ER. You've probably heard of pain so intense that it causes vomiting. I always wondered how pain could cause that but, a kidney stone, making it's way to your bladder will demonstrate it very well for you. Some compare the pain to that of labor pains. All I know is that it hurts so, badly that the thought of stabbing or shooting your kidney seems logical to obtain relief. This time around is pretty bad as I have one in the ureter and 2 more in the kidney. If ever you wanted to make someone suffer this would be the way to do it. I'm willing to bet that even the most seasoned masochist in the bdsm community would be totally miserable in this situation.

Keeper, so sorry to hear this! I've never had to put up with a kidney stone, but I know that the pain is legendary. Hope your ordeal is over quickly and that it doesn't ever reoccur!

I also wish you the best of luck, Keeper. I am no stranger to serious health issues, unfortunately 🙁

Sorry to hear of your troubles Mr. D. I understand about pain so bad it makes you want to vomit. Happened to me the first time my knee went out.

I was advised to drink cranberry juice to prevent kidney problems. I've been doing this for about 20 years and it seems to work. Since I'm not overly fond of the tartness of straight cranberry juice, I buy it mixed with other fruits - grape/cranberry and cherry/cranberry are my personal favorites.

Hang in there.

I'll have to try those. Everytime I look at an Ocean Spray bottle of anything, I feel like "Yuck! Cranberry juice!" but, I guess I'm just going to have to drink it anyway.

Yes, cranberry juice has proven benefits for the kidneys and bladder, and I would highly recommend drinking some daily. The versions combined with blueberries (also good for the kidneys) are far more palatable than straight cranberry juice.

Asparagus is another natural food that has kidney benefits; the water from cooking it can also be cooled and drank for enhanced effect.

Sounds interesting. Thanks for the tips. Oh, on a somewhat similar subject... For anyone with prostatitis, there is a brocolli broth treatment somewhere on the web. It shouldn't be too hard to find and is reputed to work well.

Guess what Keeper? A kidney stonme is the closest a male can get to the pain women experiene in labor. Drink lots of fluids to get it out...I feel for ya...

I've experienced kidney stones as well. Once the pain was so bad I considered suicide. The pains are so intense that I couldn't sit still, I just kept moving about the house until I was exhausted. The good news is that after 30 or 45 minutes the pain subsides (if it doesn't, go to the hospital) and the feeling then is sheer euphoria and a deep appreciation of a pain-free life.

Hey Keeper D,
I have had them twice and I drink OceanSpray Crangrape. It taste better than just straight cranberry juice. Unfortunately, my kidneys still went out on me and I am now on dialisis and waiting on a transplant. All the latter I believe ws caused by my diabetes. So take care of yourself. Just a suggestion, you might want to get checled to see if your a diabetic.

I tried replying to this lastnight but, it wouldn't go through.

That sounds pretty rough, man. I hope ya get your replacements soon. I was looking at the kidney stones chart on the wall in the doc's office today and it had some really scarey images. One was a swollen kidney with what looked like fat cells all around it and it's ureter was all swollen and bloated from a stone lodged in the area that leads to the bladder. I aksed about it and he told me what it was and said "...but, it takes about 3 months to get to that point." Another pic showed how big the stones can get inside of the kidney to where it fills in the corners and stuff. That pic scares me the worst. Sorry about talking about these things with you going through this right now but, I just had to talk about it to someone else.

I've had the diabetic test a couple of times but, in both cases it came up negative but, I still have symptoms very similar to diabetes and it runs in my family too. I'll try that juice and start drinking more water too. Good luck with your transplant. I'll be praying for you, man.
