I need a bodyguard!

Actually, I feel kinda stupid asking security to walk me across the street to the parking garage. I'm not sure it happens very often with them. I guess it's my ego getting in the way or something. They'd probably do it, but be laughing with their buddies when they get back.

Either that or they'd be like "Dude, I got to walk that hot woman to her car--score!!"

other security guard: "My turn next time!"

yet another guard: "Screw you, man.. it's gonna be MY turn next time!"

:jester:

Does the hospital own the garage? Or do a lot of employees park there at least?

I'm thinking maybe, with the help of HR, you could start a sort of "parking club" where people on the same shifts park in the same general sections of the garage so as to minimize the likelihood of being alone.

That's a pretty good idea. Never heard that one before actually. Sounds like companies with similar concerns could offer the same as a general practice.

I'll guard your body for you if you want, as long as I get to use it a bit while you're not looking :-O

Seriously though if you are considering martial arts or self-defence classes don't make the mistake which most people do of going to 2 or 3 sessions and then thinking you're equipped to deal with any threat, and likewise avoid any sessions or instructors that promise to equip you to deal with any threat in a 2 or 3 sessions because they're talking shite. Find something you like, stick with it, and after a while you'll gain confidence in it and yourself. That's how it works 😀 To be honest if you're as busy as you seem to be then self-defence classes might not be the way to go; getting hold of some pepper spray or something like that might be a better option, just as long as you're sure you'll use it if you do get into a scrape.

Also you owe me a buffalo. Where is it?

Bodyguard needed?
Tam, I'll gladly loan you a couple of mine.:twohugs:

Seriously, you can get MACE/pepper spray at your local hunting/ammo store.

You know I work at hospital too~We had a purse grabber who bulldozed several women to the ground out here, and that was in broad daylight. The guards LOVE to walk out cute ladies to their cars--do you know how many rude "rent-a-cop" cracks they get in the course of a day? It makes them feel useful for a change and you feel safe. Everyone wins.
Pretty much any guy on staff would gladly walk me out if I asked. I bet the guys at your place would too.

If you intend to go it alone (and I hope you don't) self defense classes are great but getting REALLY good takes years. You need a quick fix while you learn your craft. And above all, keep your mind sharp~can be hard after a long shift though. You need to listen to your instincts, keep your ears and eyes open, keys in hand. Do not be afraid to turn round and run back to towards the building if something feels wrong--the "wrong way driver" would be a MAJOR red flag for me. But remember, it could be nothing. People can't or don't read signs, they're distracted thinking of their sick friends or family, or are just plain stupid. Better safe than sorry, ALWAYS.
XOXO

As no one else has said this so far, I will;

Do NOT, repeat NOT, buy a gun.

Given what you said about your inexperience with firearms, you will NOT be able to pull it out, aim and fire to disable or kill without hesitation. That hesitation, which is entirely normal, will mean that the attacker takes the gun away and uses it on you. This has happened to untrained people I know. Men as well as women.

Unless you are willing and able to take a training course that will eliminate that fatal, humanitarian hesitation, buying and carrying a gun is a very, very BAD idea.

The best defense sprays combine pepper and mace. Because you know they are non-lethal, that hesitation will probably not be a factor.

Regarding martial arts; if you can find a school that teached Tae Kwan Do, that is the one I reccomend for most women. The human adult female usuallyt had far more power in her legs and hips than she does in her upper body, and Tae Kwan Do, especially the Moo Duk Kwan variant, makes very good use of that strong point of womens physical makeup.

Most guys who make a habit of attacking women know to guard their crotch; Tae Kwan Do will teach you how to shatter his kneecap, much harder for him to block or avoid, especially if you aim for the leg his weight is resting on.

Then, you run for your car, get in, start the motor, and RUN THE ASSHOLE OVER! Tell the cops that in the dim light you thought he was pulling a gun and were in fear for your life. They won't even prosecute.:wow:

Damn, you guys are awesome! Okay, okay, no gun, check, lol. I think the pepper spray is a damn good idea, and I actually talked to a really nice security guard about calling them as an escort, and he told me to personally ask for him...... so I guess I don't have to worry about security making fun of me.

Although...LK's idea sounds like a great one, as usual! I might check into putting it in the suggestion box. I'll ask a few nurses who work my same shift if they would be interested in such a thing. I'm pretty sure I'd get some positive feedback.

Did I tell you that ya'll are awesome? :cuddle:

Now, I have a buffalo to catch!
