[RPGM2K3] Love and Hate 2: Maria's Tickly Doom

HUGE UPDATE: FINAL VERSION BARRING MAYBE A PATCH FOR TYPOS OR SOMETHING!

LOTS OF NEW STUFF!

Feel free to ignore the first half of the title. It's sort of a personal thing. It's there to make me feel like I accomplished more than I did. A long time ago, I started a project in RPG Maker 3 and didn't get very far.

This current project began with me making what's like a sequel to that game. It feels really good to dig up some project and revive it. So anyway, no, you're not missing anything. There is no first one, yet anyway.

UPDATE

- I'd like people to start a new game. I swear it's a lot better now.

- Lots of new stuff, new game overs, lots of stuff, check the update log, MUCH better game flow. Enough gold to make a solid party, and with the hidden gold in the first town (very optional this time unless you want an all 1000 Gold party, IIRC, might not even be mandatory then), any party you want. First area enemies give waaaay more gold and exp, most of the stuff in the game gives double now. Etc. So hope everyone enjoys now.

MY NEW PATCH PLAN

If there's a big, game breaking bug, I'll patch it ASAP, otherwise . . .

This is a one man game, almost, so probably SOMETHING is going to need fixing. There's also something I still want to add into this game, "Torture Lamps" for other party members, something I wanted in but didn't get around to. I'm hoping there are people who like this game who will look forward to this.

So, my idea is, I'll wait a few days, wait until all/a lot of the feedback comes, and then, when I fix everything at once, I'll also add some new goodies. This is a trick I learned from iOS games. Hopefully it will just need this one patch, to fix any potential typos, or whatever, and then that's it, all done.

ABOUT THE GAME

This is a game about four girls with big, ticklish feet trying to avoid evil, evil tickles. If that sounds like something you'd want to try, then you're in the right place. n_n It's mostly about foot tickling, but there is a small amount of other tickling too. Also, other foot related things.

The tickling content is almost entirely just writing, however. Just to warn you. I wish I could do more with sprites.

Currently, the game is a complete game, with 8 different endings.

It has 7 classes, 6 actual classes, and one class that's bad and would make the game more challenging, for the most part. You can pay gold to change classes. You get to keep all of your acquired skills, but the drawback is you go back to level 1. It sounds daunting, but there is some in game support for this.

The game is intended to be non-linear, and will have more of that feeling once I add more optional places to go to.

TEXT ISSUE

The text looks weird on my monitor, if it looks weird on other peoples' monitors, I will see if there's a way to fix it. There might be, I'm just not very knowledgeable about this stuff. I'll look into it.

MASTERY

By switching classes, you gain mastery. The higher your level when you switch class, the more mastery you gain. You can also gain mastery from the same class. e.g. If a level 10 valkyrie switches to a valkyrie, mastery is gained, if the character then switches classes at level 8, more mastery is gained.

Visit the right counter in the arena and you may acquire prizes for reaching mastery landmarks.

Of course, you're not required to gain any mastery at all to complete the game, but it may be required for certain areas.

STUFF TO WATCH OUT FOR

- IF A CERTAIN SOMETHING IN A CERTAIN CASINO TELEPORTS YOU TO A DESERT, DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME, INSTEAD, RELOAD YOUR LAST SAVE.
- You can change the order of your party members (I mean like vertically, row is fine). Please don't. It will mess up events, but only visually.
- Items, yeah, the order is a little random at times. The problem is, the order is always the order I create them. So if I think of something to make later, it's going to be lower in your item list. There's really no way to fix this. I hope it doesn't cause much trouble. =/
- The game is full screen, but I have been told this can be fixed with Alt+enter.
- The levels in the game only go up to 16, making there less gaining levels than in usual games. So don't worry too much if it seems a tad low.
- The forests and swamps generally contain more difficult monsters than the plains. Stick to the plains if you aren't ready yet.
- There's a guy at the top of the first town who will revive your party members for free.
- A flashing screen is an enemy critical hit.

These are: Important notes, Location Map, Old Endings Walkthrough (kind of outdated), Old Walkthrough (kind of outdated), Update Log (list of all my updates), World Map. These should all be in the folder with the game file itself.

DOWNLOAD

Once it's unzipped, just open the folder, and at the bottom, there should be a file with a picture of some guy with a sword, and that should be the game file.

Ok, let me see if I can figure out attachments.

Let's see, it's an RPG Maker game that's focused pretty heavily on feet and tickling. Not so much upperbody, so sorry fans who only like upperbody. n_n; It might be more focused on being a game, than being just all about tickling. Dungeons usually have multiple traps in them, almost every boss has a custom game over involving tickling or something foot fetish related, it's a status effect, there are some random events, etc.

However, it's not constant like some other games, so it's probably more for people who really like video games, as opposed to like an interactive tickling simulator.

I use the genre that I coined "disproportionate." It's the one that LoL used, where you party has like swords and axes, but the enemies sometimes just tickle you.

So yeah, there's a world map and everything, I have like maybe ten or so dungeons done so far. There's a job system kinda like FFV. I do what I can with sprites , but for any elaborate tickling scene, I just write it out with like narration (screenshot 3), in combination with dialogue.

OH! Important thing I forgot to mention, ignore the text. My monitor has some weird proportions or something. It will probably look better on your computers.

So by the looks of it, i'd say you're using RPG Maker 2003 am I right?
 
I thought so by the look and the battle style. Well you've got me hyped. Looking forward to it. 🙂 Hopefully you can get it done by July. My birthday's coming up that time XD

Unfortunately no. x_X I've been too busy with the game. 2003 Also has really picky image specifications.

I will not miss that when I resume working with VX or hopefully VX Ace.
 
Alright I understand.

One more thing. What is the premise? Is there a story behind this game? Not to mention the title of the RPG too.
 
The plot is about my OC sorceress Mefika. Our tomboy, red haired main character, Maria, wakes up to find herself in what she believes is a game or fantasy world created by Mefika that seems especially well suited to exploit her ticklish feet. She also meets up with the three other main characters there because they all have something in common, Mefika has put a curse them that will tickle them if they try to put on footwear. So that's why they're after her.

As for the title, I'm not tooooo sure yet. The entire time I've just been using the working, temporary title I made on a whim when I was starting to get the project together, Maria's Tickly Doom. It's kind of growing on me, so maybe I'll keep calling it that.
 
How big is this game so far? And what percentage is the development at?
 
I'd say it's maybe 80% done? Maybe 70% due to balancing. I'll probably want to run through it a few times to balance out classes so it doesn't turn into a three fighters and one white mage kinda deal.

To be completely honest, I'm actually kinda feeling like it's too big as it is right now. I'd be comfortable just slapping on an end dungeon and calling it a day if it wasn't for the fact that's there's really stuff I feel like I have to add. Some of it's kind of important to balance. I want it to have that short and replayable quality, trying different class ideas, etc. Hopefully the length doesn't kill that.

I said earlier about 10 dungeons/hostile areas or so. I checked and it looks like I'm on 12 right now, with a few half completed ones. They're not overly long though. Nothing that's like 20 floors.

Sorry, that's probably confusing. x_X I'm bad with time, so I haven't tried measuring the general length of my parallel test playing.
 
I don't think people care much for length killing a game. And that's the same with Screamer. He wants to add in a lot of stuff too. So just do what you feel you have to. I mean you can just release it and update it along the way if you feel you want to add more too because then that will make people play it more for the new stuff. Depending on what you add that is.

And don't worry. We can always test the game for balance and bugs too. That's what we're here for. To play and check for glitches and balance issues. But just do what you can.

I think I want to cap my releases at two. My idea is that I'll post the game when it's done, and then if I get a lot of good ideas, especially easy to implement ones, or bug fixes, I could do like what Capcom does with Street Fighter and just have a second, superior version.

Remember to take your time, do not hurry just for the sake of releasing the game!
 
Thanks for being forthcomming on the contents of your game. Too bad it doesn't have much UB, so i'm guessing that bellybutton isn't in the game. I'd love to get it when it's ready, but I think i'll pass this time.
 
ANOTHER game in the works?? Fan-fuckin'-tastic!! Seriously. All you game creators are great people for taking time to make these games. And releasing them for free, no less. From the sounds of it, Lurk, you're fixin' to put your name right beside Screamer (and potentially AW) as well as the others who have made these. Very much looking forward to the release.
 
A part of me (large part) didn't want to make a topic, because I thought there was no real need. I've also been a fan of RPG Maker since the Playstation original (which is still my favorite due to nostalgia), so I know aaalllllll about RPG Maker and vaporware. But I guess at this point, my game is large enough, and close enough to being done, that hypothetically, I could probably just completely rush it in case of emergency or in case of emergency interest loss. I wouldn't want to do that though, because then the end of the game would be terrible.

Anyway, I thought maybe I should make this topic, see if anything comes up I might want to ask someone, or mention to people, or see what people have to say, I don't know, whatever.

This is excellent! This will be the first RPG Maker 2003 game I've played. Must be nice having a default side-battle system 😛 I recognized your art from DA too. Eyes went straight to HomonculusLover's tickle pic and recognized it from my tickle pic collection.

I'm actually running into this a lot with my game. Don't know how these other guys do it! I keep on making it like a regular game. I'm making shit, and all "Yea this is awesome! Man, everyone is going to love this", then I test drive it all and find out that there is little tickle material! What the hell is wrong with me!? This should be like a pornfest with me having to go in and reduce it lol.

Yea, unless you go into sprite editing, you're going to have a lot of problems making the tickle scenes look elaborate with them. LoL barely gets away with it because of the "Getting Tickled" sprite that was edited from the original "Damage" battle sprite of each character (pretty much just altered the eyes and added tears). Just do the best you can and let "imaaaagination" do the rest (because honestly, you're doing this shit for free. People should be grateful instead of bitch about it not being some studio quality)

And just letting you know, the text is fine. Don't know what's up with you monitor (maybe screen resolution?) but everything is fine on our end.
 
Who needs sprites 😛 You write, I read, scene plays in head complete with audio/video imagination, good to go xD :stickout
 
There have been a few delays recently, but I'm still hoping for August sometime. I'd really prefer to be done with this project by September.
