i truly now can say that ghost exist

Is this thread still here?

The idea that people's souls retain form and conciousness after death and go around interacting with the living is frankly laughable and ridiculous.
Next you'll be telling me that you believe in the boogey-man or that monster under your bed.

Not really. There are lots of things that are beyond our understanding, and we should be open to them. After all, people used to think that the idea of the earth revolving around the sun was ridiculous, so who knows what we'll discover in the future.

Yes, and then they figured out they were wrong by using science.

We should absolutely be open to ideas that remain plausible, but I mean if you look in your garden for leprechauns and after turning over 5,000 rocks you've still never found the slightest evidence for them, how many more rocks should you turn over before you decide to spend your time looking for something more plausible?

Provide me with evidence for something, and I'll consider it plausible.
If, somewhere down the line, concrete evidence for the existance of ghosts was found, I would certainly consider it a possibility.

However, as far as I can tell, there's nothing there but wishful thinking and people's fear of death.

Yes, but that idea was supported by solid evidence. Being open to other ideas does not mean accepting something without proper evidence; being open to ideas means being willing to consider new ideas.

There's a chap on Youtube who's made this point in a very articulate fashion:

I never said I accepted that there were absolutely definitely ghosts, I just said I was open to the possibility. I'm also open to the possibility that there are no ghosts.

Even though the video was posted to argue with me, still, nice video.

Top notch video.

All of us are open to the possibility that there are ghosts. Even, potentially, ghosts who do totally arbitrary things like moving something from one place to another.

But there is not now and never has been any decent proof. People have been looking for a looooong time. If some evidence comes to light, great! But so far, nothing.

Alright, cool. In that case, we're all pretty much in agreement.

Not quite; the original post was "I truly now can say that ghosts exist."

Quite different from "I am open to the possibility of ghosts, but recognize that there has never been even the smallest shred of reliable evidence in their favour."

I mean it's not so much whether or not you have a choice. It's that it's only really likely that it's sleep paralysis.

How many people have the "shadow people" killed? I can tell you right now that it's zero.

Likely yes! but there are always other things to know it might be. sorry that sounded a bit of russian learning to speak english.

to be honest i dont know as i'm not an expert on that.

Oh, sorry, I was just including myself and the people arguing with me specifically.

Really? Here's a sample of one of the top-rated reviews:

That's not exactly positive. The rest were similar. The book was categorized as being full of misconceptions, misapprehensions, and just plain misinformation.

Again, I've not yet read it so I can't say for certain, but if everyone who read it thought it was poorly done, it doesn't auger well.

Well i have mud on my face i never even lookled all the way down there! lol
to be honest i've only heard hahn live on television, one of those times talking about this issue, in which he admitted the watchmaker thing was outdated, this was a later recast after the book was already published.

i've heard good things about the book so thats why i posted it her, and knew there were good things from hahn again a second reason i posted this here

Which is fair. But the people who ARE experts on such things are in complete agreement that there is no such thing as "shadow people." Having never seen any evidence to the contrary, I'm inclined to agree with them.

I'm sure he's able to present his case charismatically, but charisma does not lend truth.

On the other hand I've not read his books so I cannot state for certain whether or not he has a strong case. I'd be willing to give it a shot when time permits, but I've heard a lot of arguments similar to what his book purports to display and all of them have easily demonstrable flaws which the authors never respond to when you expose them.

Still, he may be different.

This is the longest run on sentence I have ever seen. Im slightly impressed with a touch of WTF was that lol?! Im just teasing in good fun.

Really? I never noticed it didn't have periods, my mind added periods in the right places. lol..

To tell you the truth man, I have seen death for real. He looks like death in family guy but he doesn't carry around a scythe. He wore a black robe that covered his hands completely. His face was as black as black could be. His body thin and tall maybe over 6 feet, and not transparent.

story:

I was at my house all alone only my dog was there. So I was in my moms room cause she has a fridge so I was drinking soda and my dog looks into the kitchen with his ears up.

So I turn my head and there is a thin tall black robed man with no face looking right at me. I know he is looking because of the way the hoodie was folded like this <(`')> . So he actually noticed that I was staring right at him and he turned his head and body to the side and walked in slow motion out of the kitchen.

I remember it so clearly that I made a sketch and then made a simple animation of what he looked like when he walked away.

also fair enough. as i wasn't killed and we cant ask those who might have been (i watched a show and reas a book that said there are very small counts of death during sleep paralusis) we'll never know for sure.

its kind of like nessie. with no sighting of her for 3 years now one could assume most now educated people no longer mistake a common phenomonon for her, while at the same time others might accidently attribute said phenomonon when the actually do see her

Yes, but people dying in their sleep is hardly unusual. What do you think shadow people are made of? What do they eat? Why do they never, ever show themselves in any way to any people at any time except for when people are falling asleep or waking up... which is also just when people suffer from this extremely common medical condition called sleep paralysis that has symptoms that are precisely similar to these so called "shadow people"?

Can you see why I think there's essentially zero chance that any of these things are "shadow people"? I've suffered hundreds if not thousands of attacks of sleep paralysis, this is a topic I am particularly well acquainted with.
